Been out of the loop awhile I guess I don't remember hearing of an X32 but I really like her.

I've been aware of Laura but until now didn't dive deep into her origin. This book helped resolve that. Good writing.

X-23 (Laura Kinney) only seems fully realized when paired with her creators Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, leaving the rest of the collection lacking. That being said, their collaboration on "Innocence Lost" -illustrated by Billy Tan- and "Target X" -illustrated by Mike Choi- are must haves for X-Men fans looking for more complex and mature material from marvel.
The story, art and characters are all damn near perfect albeit changing their continuity by adding a character in "Target X". This, however, didn't distract or detract from my enjoyment of the story.

While I highly recommend this collection, I did subtract a star for the stories in the back half of the book. They appear lazy and downright bad compared to the origin stories. I would have much rather seen her story lines from NYX and New X-Men included.
I also found Marjorie Liu's (whom I usually enjoy) contribution somewhat offensive and derivative after everything Laura has gone through. The story seemed unnecessary in general and unnecessarily collected here as the second complete collection has the majority of Liu's run.

Pick this up for the amazing art and story found throughout the first 12 issues -the price is great for those alone!- but skip out on reading the last 4 unless you plan to finish Liu's run or you're a completist like me.

This graphic novel was very interesting & gave me a little more background into the creation of X-23 aka Laura. It was nice to get a little more information on the lab that not only tortured Logan but did the cloning that created Laura. I liked that it showed how Laura tried to have a life of not killing & that the bad guys & some of the good guys wouldn't let her have it.

As the name complete collection I dictates, this collects a large chunk of the initial appearances of x-23. However, be warned that there are text pages explaining events that occurred in other books not collected here.
The story itself is really good. Laura's origin is tragic, and the various writers do a really good job showing how the program twisted her into the weapon she was born to be. The art is abit more scattershot though, a lot of it is great, some of the random one shots included are rather rough looking.
I bought this after seeing Laura in Logan, and I did not regret it. If you are following her in the all new wolverines title or are curious about the character from the movie, I'd definitely recommend this title.

Since the movie Logan I wanted to learn more about X-23. So I learn she was cloned from same place that made Wolverine. Like him she was too smart and strong to keep contained. She went looking for him so they could both be killed not deserving to live as weapons. Along the way she meets some Avengers and others. After finding him they have an incredible fight but Wolverine shows her even though trained and raised nothing more than a killing machine she can be whoever she wants. So it's hard but she wants to try.

The two arcs that are excellent are Collects X-23 (2005) #1-6 and X-23: Target X #1-6, which are the origins of X-23. Some of the other stories added Captain Universe/X-23 #1 and X-23 One-Shot (2010) #1 are weak. X-23 One-Shot adds sexual trauma to the Laura Kinney's background in a way that feels a bit like torture/tragedy mongering and aren't part of her original origin story, which is brutal enough on its own. Kinney's character as a foil and answer to Logan, which while it can be saturated in teen angst, is very interesting, particular in her younger guise. A lot of these are harder to find now and completists are going to need this. Highly enjoyable despite two weaker spots.

I would definitely recommend this collection. I've been a X-23 fan ever since her first appearance, and this collects 2 of the best stories shes featured in, plus a few more that are ok. The book its self is thick, good quality, great value for the price.
The only negative ill give it is the last two stories could be better and I wish they used Mike Choi's art for the cover. But the first two stories are easily worth the price alone and earns it 5 stars. Definatly going to get vol.2

5.0 out of 5 stars not exactly what I thought she was, she is so much better.

I wasn't expecting so many layers to this character.
First, they start with Wolverines defection from the Weapon X facility, so it takes a while before they even introduce X-23.
When they eventually do introduce the Birth of X-23 it is a wild emotional ride.
This volume contains not only her creation/birth but also her formulation, how she started to get her moral bearings even if she was treated as a weapon from day one, as well as a nice little mini story with her and Ghost-Rider
If you never read any of her comics before and would like to get to know her, I would suggest starting here.

「Innocence Lost」
