The second volume of “Wolverine: First Class” is an improvement over the first one. Much of the focus is on Kitty Pryde as writer Fred Van Lente takes readers back to the early 80s era X-Men when Chris Claremont pulled the strings on Marvel’s premier mutant team. There are some interesting stories here ranging from the tragic to the absurd but the two lead characters remain at the center of it all. The art is a little inconsistent as Clayton Henry, Salva Espin and Steve Cummings all have spots leading the team. There’s a treat featuring two classic Claremont issues with Kitty’s first bow added on as well as a strange and somewhat out of place team up between Wolverine and Power Pack. While a bit all over the place, this is a fun collection of comics.
