About the Author

Antony Johnston is an award-winning, New York Times bestselling author of more than thirty graphic novels and comic series, including The Coldest City (now a film starring Charlize Theron), the epic series Wasteland, Marvel's superhero Daredevil, the modern Shakespeare Julius, and more. He also writes video games, such as the seminal Dead Space and ZombiU. He has adapted books by bestselling novelist Anthony Horowitz, collaborated with comics legend Alan Moore, and his titles have been translated throughout the world. He lives and works in England.

Originally from the cow-dappled expanse of southern Wisconsin, Christopher Mitten now spends his time roaming the misty wilds of suburban Chicago, drawing little people in little boxes. Antony Johnston is one of the most versatile writers of the modern era.

The Charlize Theron movie ATOMIC BLONDE was based on his graphic novel. His murder mystery THE DOG SITTER DETECTIVE won the Barker Book Award for fiction. The BRIGITTE SHARP spy thrillers are in development for TV. And his productivity guide THE ORGANISED WRITER has helped authors all over the world take control of their workload.

Antony is a celebrated videogames writer, with genre-defining titles including DEAD SPACE, SHADOW OF MORDOR, and RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE to his credit. Having also consulted on SILENT HILL ASCENSION, he is the only writer in the world to have worked on all of the ‘big three’ horror gaming franchises.

His immense body of work also includes Marvel superheroes such as DAREDEVIL and SHANG-CHI, the ALEX RIDER graphic novels, the post-apocalypse epic WASTELAND, and more. He wrote and directed the film CROSSOVER POINT, made entirely in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic.

An experienced podcaster and public speaker, he also frequently writes articles on the life of an author, and is a prolific musician.

Antony is a former vice chair of the Crime Writers’ Association, a member of International Thriller Writers and the Society of Authors, a Shore Scripts screenwriting judge, and sits on the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’s videogames committee. He lives and works in England.

This is the final book. With a massive page count and no prose only sections it can take it’s time to go out in style.

The whole piece is a massive flashback that takes you through the preceding 100 years and explains absolutely everything. While this reveal is indeed enthralling it does definitely close the door on the Wasteland world and robs you of the mysteries that intrigued you. Sometimes you don’t want an origin story or to peak behind the curtain. Whist we can all work out Wash-ton, A-Ree-Yass-I eluded us. But no more.

Mitten is back for the whole volume but as 99% of it is present day his beautiful Wasteland vistas are absent.

A great way to go out.
