The place where he first rebelled against his destiny and imagined that he could be more — that he could be a man. There, he builds them. A wife, Virginia. Teenage twins, Viv and Vin. They look like him. They have his powers. They share his grandest ambition — or obsession? — the unrelenting need to be ordinary. Behold the Visions! Theirs is a story of togetherness and tragedy — one that will set the Android Avenger on course for a devastating confrontation with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

I read this in one sitting and then stepped back feeling so intrigued and desparate for more that I wanted to start reading it over again from the beginning. So I did exactly that. And now I am here.
This storyline was interesting and unexpectedly dark from the get go. Every page was interesting and strangely thought-provoking, the interactions bringing curious thouhts to mind regarding Vision and his synthetic family. As a big fan of Vision both in the comics and the movies I was heartbroken to see him struggle so much with his new family yet I still loved every minute of it. Viv and Vin were especially intriguing to me and Virginia just... ah! I don’t want to spoil anything.
Needless to say I consider this a must read and am planning to sit down and read it again very soon.
But this comic, right here, by Tom King is nothing short of genius. The way I like to describe it to people unfamiliar with comics is simply - art. This is good art. This is what the medium of comic books, when done right, can look like.
If you are on the fence about buying it, this is what I have told multiple friends before buying it for them as gifts to see if they would like it: "A harrowing and deeply probing look into the family life of Avenger’s favorite android. In a quest to be more human, the Vision makes himself a family and tries to live a wholesome suburban life. But things aren’t what they seem after initial conflict enters into his quiet life. Foreboding, tense, and philosophical, this 12 issue run tugs at the heart strings while simultaneously making you reel back in horror. Beautifully drawn and colored, and has some of the best usage of narration in modern day comics."
If that sounds good to you, please do yourself a favor and take a chance on it. I haven't heard one complaint against it yet from those who I have given it to.
The pace of the book is great, with plenty of foreshadowing, and reveals galore. I enjoyed the Vision's attempt to construct a fully synthesized family, and how well integrated his backstory was (including his former relationship with the Scarlet Witch). The book attempts to juxtapose the Vision's role as white house adviser and superhero with his attempt to lead a normal life with his family.
There are a few false notes, the worst of which is the book's attempt to explain P vs NP. If you don't want your kids to grow up with an incorrect understanding of what an NP problem is, keep this book out of their hands! On the other hand, the Marvel universe has always treated Physics, Chemistry, and the various hard sciences as being optional rules, so maybe it was time for Computer Science to get its turn at getting bent.
As a superhero book, it's superior: the characterization is great, and the plot has many elements of classic tragedy: one bad decision leads to another, over and over until things fall apart. Recommended. Just try not to wince too hard when the discussion of CS theory comes up.
Picked this up after being 60+ issues into his Batman run. Let me tell you, this is a story that does not disappoint. I knew nothing about Vision nor did a care about him prior to this, but TK's writing style is simply amazing. He takes what should be a superhero "Leave it to beaver" story and makes it transcend any expectations I could have had. You are told from the start how the story will end, but the journey to get to that point was amazing. MUST BUY!!!!

Vision in particular came with a lot of expectations and the amazing thing is that it fulfills them all. You are touched by a story that tells of humanity and family when its major characters are not human at all - in the usual sense of the word. It shows us that ties of family may not involve feelings as such; but definitely involve sacrifice and forgiveness.
This edition in particular is something Marvel has put a lot of thought into (and is quickly becoming hard to get!). There are a lot of extras - about half of the 488 pages are filled with letters, the author's writings and panel developments. The cover looks like an old family album and the dust cover has the vision family tree on a sleek black background. Marvel gave a grand send off to Tom King before he moved to DC!
Falando do encadernado em si, ele é um deleite pra quem curte extras. É um caminhão de informações, com artes, roteiros, entrevistas, anotações, e lendo tudo agrega ainda mais a obra.
