Two Brothers and a Shoe

This graphic novel is a fictionalised account of how Adi and Rudi Dassler from humble beginnings of making shoes in their mother's laundry, pioneered sports marketing before splitting and forming Adidas and Puma respectively. The two companies were founded only a few miles apart in the small German town of Herzogenaurach, and would become embroiled in one of the longest and most bitter feuds in business history. Their rivalry defined how brands compete; their use of sports stars as brand ambassadors spawned a multibillion dollar industry along with teaching firms how-to and how-not-to compete.
