"If you know nothing about Filipino horror and the monsters that lurk within, this is the place to start." --Book Riot
"The four stories are accompanied by in-depth fact sheets about the amazing creatures we meet, and to close Tan gives us the backstory of Trese and how it eventually ended up as a show. It rounds off a winner in every way, exotic, glamorous and beguiling."--theslingsandarrows.com
"Budjette and Kajo's Trese is a gem. It excites the little child in me which used to believe in the wonders of Filipino folklore, and my adult self who enjoys intelligently written and drawn tales." - LEINIL YU
"Trese continues to impress and surprise." - GERRY ALANGUILAN, CREATOR OF THE AWARD-WINNING GRAPHIC NOVEL ELMER
"supernatural elements lend the story a strong horror vibe, which is accentuated by the grisly, black-and-white art." - The Verge

I'm obviously biased to support something that is rooted to my child home and country of origin but I do think this is an interesting premise with creatures every different from what we're used to.
I do wish the writing was a wee bit better. I'm not sure if it's mostly due to the monster of the week vibe but I was looking for something a bit deeper. I hope we get a lot more stories in this since I think Metro Manila is such a fanatic setting with how old and weird and urbanized and mishmash of cultures.
This make me really interested for the next volume and checking out the Netflix show.

Set in contemporary Manila, Volume One contains four stories - all unique and based on Filipino mythology, with a dash of police procedural and a tone influenced by many sources but, notably, Kolchak: The Night Stalker and X-Files (with a dash of CSI).
Each story is followed by a few pages from the files of Trese's late father, Alexander, and provides background on the various mythological entities we encounter in those stories.
Great, dark, fun.
Look I love the stories of trese and the art work but the problem is that this comic book doesn't have any content number pages on it paper below like other manga out there.
I dont have a problem on paper page itself but where is the page number on below the paper.
I hope when the vol.2 come out this problem is solve just saying.
