Everyone dreams, but are these dreams our own? Who controls our thoughts when we're sleeping? Ginn, is a young college student who has been having wildly disturbing nightmares featuring a man she has never met. When she finds a flyer with his picture and the question, "Have you dreamed this man?" she submits to an interview that begins to unravel her perceptions of reality.

Part of the comiXology Originals line of exclusive digital content only available on comiXology and Kindle. This title is available as part of comiXology Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading.

"No-one's interested in anyone else's dreams, They say. Show Them this. See them eat their words. Astoundingly rendered by Bailey, sharply constructed by Conrad, this is intimate like the inside of your eyelids and creepy as opening them and finding your eyes are gone."
- Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine, DIE)

"Creepy and gorgeous! A story you'll keep revisiting as you admire its complexities!"
- Chip Zdarsky (Spider-Man: Life Story, Sex Criminals) -

"All at once alluring and uncanny, Tremor Dose juxtaposes the familiar and the foreign in a fever-dream of a comic that will leave you in a cold sweat, gasping for more."
- Becky Cloonan (By Chance or Providence, Gotham Academy)

Writing about dreams is a tricky thing. Often, writers tend to either go with pretentious symbolism or the sort of pure fantasy which has no resemblance to true dreaming. Few are able to summon up that liminal space, between dreaming and wakefulness, where the dreamer is unsure if he/she/they are awake or dreaming, and where nightmares have the potential to manifest into reality. Writer Michael Conrad and artist Noah Bailey have achieved just that, creating a shifting dream of a book, where one is always struggling to find a foothold and new terrors are always creeping around the corner.

Conrad never hold the reader’s hand and trusts them to find their way through the constantly changing terrain of the story and the many reveals and reversals encountered along the way. The brooding teenage protagonist, Ginn, speaks dialogue that always rings true and never once strays into the snarky, pop-culture infected voice most writers resort to. The dialogue throughout the books feels lived-in while also achieving the dreamy, otherworldly quality one finds in the films of David Lynch or David Cronenberg. Conrad never overwrites and knows when to let the art do the talking. Which brings us to artist Noah Bailey.

Where did this guy come from?! His art appears fully formed and free of the growing pains a lot of young artists struggle through. Bailey’s black and white (with occasional stabs of stunning color) art is reminiscent of horror artists like Al Columbia and Junji Ito and he has a real talent for capturing that oppressive atmosphere filled with creeping dread one finds only in nightmares. There are times, when a character turns towards the reader, that one has the sense of looking into something unworldly, as if something demonic has been summoned directly onto the page and one must turn their eyes to avert being sucked too deeply into the book.

A lot of comics these days read like TV series pitches but Terror Dose is pure comics (that being said, this would make a great show or movie so somebody call these dudes immediately!). These guys clearly love comics and narrative possibilities of the medium. Michael Conrad and Noah Bailey are the coolest band you haven’t heard of and Terror Dose is their first underground hit. Get in before they blow up. Can’t wait to see more comics from these two.

I can't say enough good things about this book and its author. You won't want to put it down until you are finished with it. The art is super cool too.
My boyfriend and I met the writer at Heroes Con last month and he's so awesome. Made the book that much better for me. Definitely a must read, and so is his other book Double Walker!

The thing that really blew me away from the beginning was the use of pencil which reminded me of a dude I was envious of in 7th grade who could turn out a masterpiece while we were supposed to be learning history. Its amazingly well done. On dreams though, its just not my latest topic of interest list. I did love the movie Dreamscape in the 80's though and if you saw that you will be prepared to find yourself in a similar environment. One of the better comixology originals.

Interesting story but I wasn’t really happy with the art which sometimes distracted from the story. Overall though the whole thing wasn’t that bad.

This book is incredible.
Beautifully written and illustrated.
This was the first book I had picked up in a minute
And it had me from the jump.
It was engaging, personal, and stayed with me after reading it.
I look forward to more work from both the author and artist!

I won't plot summarize, but the book fits into the zeitgeist: institutions -- including mental ones -- are not to be trusted. The bottom line (cash, power, prestige, whatever it may be) will always supersede any societal benefit to the individual. But that doesn't mean there isn't hope when we exhibit bravery and ingenuity. But that's on us...no one else will save us.

From the very opening, a sense of dread is clearly established by both the plot and the art. Conrad smartly subverts gender expectations in the early interview, having the male interviewer be the nurturing, consoling one. It should be the first sign that things are not as they seem and likely not to be trusted. Conrad is well in tune with how to make the reader feel, and while the mood shifts, he is deftly aware of how to wield that narrative control of the reader.

The art by Noah Bailey is a true discovery. Equal parts FANTASTIC PLANET, equal parts Raymond Briggs, there is simplicity that belies that same emotional depth seen in the written narrative. His use of color in latter parts of the book is so compelling, and adds a sub-text to an already sub-textual story. It's quite keen.

My one quibble is it felt about ten-15 pages too long. While they do give pause at appropriate moments, there are a few spots that slow things down slightly for my personal taste regarding pacing. But that is minor/ personal, so don't let that dissuade. This book is still incredibly thoughtful, and I'm still thinking about it a week after having read it.

There are so many quote worthy moments in this book. I fell in love with the characters and related to them. If you're looking for a thought provoking book unlike anything else with amazing art...you found it.

This graphic novel is surprisingly good. "Surprisingly" not because I didn’t expect much but because I never encountered something like this.

The story is dreamlike and will keep you guessing. On top of that I loved the drawing! I'll keep buying more of the artist work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Captures the frustration and fears of a dream
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 20, 2021
It isn’t satisfyingly wrapped up (by design) or exactly enjoyable (too disturbing) but this is great work! Credibly constructs a world within a dream and evokes the mechanics of it; the art is ugly and beautiful and in its own warped way the story is meticulously true to dream life. Hats off 👏👏👏👏👏
