Excellent run on Thunderbolts by Kurt Busiek, with things coming to a head with the team as fugitives before Hawkeye would later join the team.

For some reason thunderbolts seems to have a lot more typos than any other comic i've ever read. I love the series though. I just hate that I can't find a classics volume 4

The Thunderbolts series is just amazing.

From the start of "Thunderbolts," there was the question of how long the central concept of the series (bad guys pretending to be good guys) could last. It came to a head in issue 12 and the follow-ups had the team transported to another dimension for a battle. This volume picks up as they return to Earth, trying to figure out what to do now that the world knows the truth about them and hates them for it. This leads to a conflict with the former Great Lakes Avengers who had renamed themselves the Lightning Rods in "honor" of the T-Bolts and are upset about being tricked. The team also deals with a robot Hulk, followed by a newly powered Graviton. The key problem is how the team is coming apart, clashing over issues and Moonstone not doing a good job as leader. The book seemed rather without direction...which is exactly what Kurt Busiek planned.

After turning down an offer from the new Masters of Evil, the team is captured but rescued by the masked Dreadknight. It turns out it's really long-time Avenger Hawkeye who, having started off on the wrong side of the law himself, wants to help the T-Bolts be true heroes. It's a brilliant twist that leads to conflict right off as Hawkeye demands MACH-1 turn himself in for a murder he commited as the Beetle. Also, Hercules comes for payback on Atlas, who beat him nearly to death in the classic "Avengers Under Seige" story. The collection includes a rare "0" issue made for "Wizard" magazine and a crossover with "Avengers" as Hawkeye tells the team about his new choice. Plus, a 1998 Annual where Captain America hunts for Zemo and meets a new Citizen V.

Busiek knows these characters, giving them amazing light from Songbird's worries over her life to MACH-1 regretting his decisions. The introduction of Hawkeye is great, the cocky archer thrown into a leadership role, clashing with the sneaky Moonstone and hiding his own secret from the team. He's matched by Mark Bagley's wonderful art, one of the best "real" versions of the Marvel universe around and great seeing George Perez in the "Avengers" issue taking on the team. For those who thought the series would run out of steam after the scam was revealed, this shows how it just gained new ground and more than worth picking up for lovers of great super-hero comics.
