About the authors
First and foremost a comic creator, Kirkman has seen groundbreaking success in the adaptation of his comic book titles into major franchises in all forms of content. In 2010, his Eisner award winning series, The Walking Dead, was developed into an AMC television series. It has become a worldwide phenomenon as the highest-rated basic cable drama of all time and is the #1 show on television among the coveted 18-49 demo. The property has also been extended into a blockbuster game franchise, licensing business and ongoing publishing success.
Kirkman also serves as consulting producer of The Talking Dead, the popular talk show hosted by Chris Hardwick that deep dives into each week’s episode of both The Walking Dead and its companion series Fear the Walking Dead. Kirkman is co-creator, writer and producer of The Walking Dead’s companion series, Fear the Walking Dead.
He is also executive producer of the AMC series Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics, and the Korean pre-apocalyptic drama, Five Year. Kirkman’s popular demonic-exorcism comic, Outcast, was adapted, produced and airs on Cinemax.
For the big screen, Kirkman will produce Invincible based on his long-running popular comic book. The project will be written, directed and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for Universal Pictures. Other credits include AIR featuring Norman Reedus and Academy Award nominee, Djimon Hounsou.
Additional Kirkman comics include Super Dinosaur, Battle Pope, Astounding Wolf-Man, and Thief of Thieves.

Written By Robert Kirkman
Illustrated By Charles Adlard & Cliff Rathburn
Collects Issues 61-66
"A man's gotta eat. If it makes you feel any better...you taste much better than we thought you would."
The first big story arc in a while, Fear the Hunters finds Rick and company still on the road, slowly running out of food, and options. Not to mention that they're being followed and watched... The first issue alone, #61, will give you a clue as to what to expect--and you'll be surprised at how quickly the terror begins and the fun truly ends. As they continue toward Washington, lives will be lost, bad deeds will be done, and a new character will be introduced. Then you just have to tell yourself that there are still five more issues to read before the collection is over...
"I don't think I've had a chance to introduce myself before. I'm Chris, it's good to meet you. You probably think I'm crazy, and I understand that. Why wouldn't you? But I'm not, none of us are. I don't expect you to believe that, but it's important to me that I say it."
Both Kirkman and Adlard have outdone themselves here, both the writing and the art are better than previous collections. Volumes 9 and 10 had me worried there for a little bit--our characters seemed to be going nowhere...and Washington seemed a little too far away. The new characters were fine, yet it still seemed like everyone was walking in circles, not doing much. Yet here is were it picks up pace--and it doesn't stop.
"You know the drill--we have to keep these people scared. We should actually pick them off sooner, thin their numbers out and make them fear for their lives."
Yet even though the writing and art are better, is the actually plot worth reading? The simple answer: yes! Although it is reminiscent of The Road , Fear the Hunters is more than worthy. In many ways, the Hunters are more savage and brutal than the Governor himself--and that's saying something. Whereas the Governor still had a shred of mercy for his daughter, these people...have no soul. They long ago ran out of food, and have taken to hunting down human and eating them--no matter what the age.
"Cannibalism? How did it come to that?"
"The simple answer? We got hungry. We're terrible hunters. You ever hunted before? Animals are quick. It's hard. You spend so much time finding a good hiding place--and waiting. It's almost pointless. So we decided to hunt easier game. People don't run from us.
We were desperate."
So although this volume was delayed because of National Comic Book Skip Week, throw all your anger away and buy it as soon as you can. If I have a single complaint about this volume, it's that it simply went by too fast...and that we didn't see more of the hunters. Well, who knows--maybe Kirkman will surprise us in later issues...Dang. I just realized now I have to wait another 6-7 months before volume 12 comes out.
"Just came to ask you this. Will you stop coming after my people?"
"In all honesty? Probably not."
insane little twin killing his brother with Carl taking justice on his own hands &c. However, I would have fancied better Morgan telling Rick what he saw, rather than the lad (Carl) confessing his crime to Rick (I have not gotten hold of volume 12, so I don't know how Rick reacted
to his son's confession). Morgan re-appearance in the previous volume was nice, and Michonne fancing him adds extra spice to the story line. Overall, I recommend all the volumes hitherto released in this series.
5 stars.
One could only imagine what the human psyche would have to concoct to be able to survive an ordeal like Rick's, but the Walking Dead books do a great job of showing how individuals in society would deal with a scenario like this.
The only bad part of the book, was the last page, knowing I had to wait to continue the story!
i have religiously read every volume til now and refuse to go to single issue format. i PRE-ORDERED on amazon so i could have it shipped the day it came out. DEC 29th... jerks..... and what does my account say NOT YET SHIPPED. WTF!!!! really amazon i always had respect for the company i even own some stock. which i will gladfully sell while i wait for my next volume. i went to every comic bookstore in my area, on the 30th and they were all sold out. go figure it is on the new york times best seller list, so you would think you would order enough copies to at least cover the pre-orders. i would happily give a review of the actually comic but alas its still sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

Waiting on show to end first.
"Find out what?"
"They're [messing] with the wrong people."
While I thoroughly enjoyed volumes 9 & 10, I felt in many ways they retreaded old ground & that perhaps after improving with every volume, this series had finally hit its peak. But volume 11 totally proved me wrong, as it contains a couple of unexpected, incredibly disturbing & ethically murky scenes. It also made me realise that the last few volumes have been leading up to something...
The survivors continue their journey across a zombie-infested America, heading for Washington & hopefully towards something resembling a government, while avoiding a massive heard consisting of thousands of undead. But when they get themselves into trouble & are forced to pitch camp, they find themselves being hunted by another well-armed group of survivors. However, after everything Rick & co. have been through & with Rick becoming more of a psycho with every turn of a page, who are the predators & who are the prey?
If you've never read it before, don't mistake The Walking Dead for just another zombie story. I always felt zombie films & novels didn't quite have the guts to go far enough but this series takes up ever deeper into a horrific, amoral world where the full implications of having to do ANYTHING to survive are thoroughly explored. In that way, it's a unique, exciting & challenging read.
