Of course I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead t.v. show and have been since season one. Like many people, I had NO clue it came about from a comic book. I'm not really a comic book person. I have nothing against them. I used to buy them for my brother every birthday and Christmas. I just never got it into them. I'm always hearing how much the comic books differ from the show.....understandably so. What kind of show would it really be and would it have the millions of viewers it does if it followed the comics to a "T"?? Anyway, I received an email the other day from one of the many "daily ebook deal" groups that I subscribe too and they had, The Walking Dead #1, comic book for free. I've actually been dying to check these comics out but never got around to it. I figured, it's free, what have I got to lose? It turns out.......I LOVE this comic book! I'm not saying I'm a lover of all comics now but I definitely will be reading the rest of these. It's pretty cool how something so short can tell such a great story through very little words and terrific drawings! I'm impressed by any one that possesses any type of artistic ability and this comic most definitely impressed me!!

If you're like me and love TWD show but never had an interest in the comics..... do yourself a favor and try this one out! I recommend it to all zombie fans, not just TWD fans! I really enjoyed it and think most people will as well!!

Great job Robert Kirkland!! You won yourself another fan of your, The Walking Dead comics!! :-)

I love the simplicity this strip holds. Kirkman is brilliant for taking something we know so well and reimagining it into a black and white, multi page story. I can't help but think of Night of the Living Dead, somewhat modernized. I know this series went mega viral thanks to the AMC show but I like to remember a time when no one knew what this comic was even about... a time when the name "Rick Grimes" was unknown. That's what this masterpiece reminds me of and it belongs in a museum for the impact it had on the world and pop culture.

I decided to read the comic due to being caught up in all episodes of every season in the hit TV series 'The Walking Dead', which is based off of this comic book series. I absolutely love the show, so I wanted to see the similarities and differences between the comic book series and the TV series. Not just to see that, but I also wanted to experience The Walking Dead journey again, this time in black-and-white comic version. After all, on Amazon for Kindle Fire, the first comic is free.

This is a pretty short comic, hence why it costs nothing. But the whole series isn't over yet, from watching the TV series I know that there's still a lot to come.

I just wish that the comics weren't split up and weren't so short so that I wouldn't have to spend so much money. Other than that, I thought the comic was great overall. The dialogue was amusing, the illustrations were fantastic, and the plot was... well, not a boring one.

I recommend this comic series to anyone who enjoys action as well as character development. I wouldn't say I would recommend it to all ages because I don't think someone like my grandma would really approve of the whole thing.

Anyways, comic is wonderful, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you for reading :)

Great and I'm told greater is to come. Can't wait for the adventure that's ahead of me. I need a break from DC and Marvel comics.

Ok... I am a walking dead TV show fan. Have watched all along and had never, before now, seen the comic. I took the "bait" and tried this one (#1)... good marketing idea really... cause now I HAVE to get the rest. If you're a dead fan you'll love them. Wasn't sure I would like the "comic" book thing, but honestly it's awesome. Especially if you were into them as a kid... I used read the vampire, werewolf, etc... type. Not a fan of the "super hero" variety. These really are fun and interesting even if you've already seen the TV show. I was surprised. I say, try one.

The Walking Dead #1 by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, who provided the Illustrations is a the story that follows most of the narratives within the first few episodes from the first season of the AMC TV show of the same name. This issue is about Rick Grimes who is a Sheriff of a small town in Kentucky who awakes in a hospital after being Comatosed after being shot while on duty. He returns home to find his family, son Carl and wife Lori, gone. He meets his new neighbor, who points him towards Atlanta. Rick then sets off to Atlanta to search for his family. The comic is great and very fast paced. The comic in my opinion is better paced than the TV show. The characters are well fleshed out, parden the pun. You feel for each character and the series connects all of them together beautifully. I enjoyed this comic and would definitely recommend it to others.

Thank you for reading my review.

I love the show and think it is some of the best, sharpest story telling I have encountered anywhere. I am reading the comics to get a feel for the source material. I am not an avid reader of comics, maybe only read a handful in my life. The storytelling in this first comic of the Walking Dead seems simplistic to me. The development on the show is amazing and this pales in comparison to that. Going to keep reading, though because that's how much I love the television version.

I have watched all of the TWD episodes on AMC. First time reading this comic. Very cool. Can't wait to read them all. This differs a little from the show and that's good because it helps the reader use their imagination and make it their own in a way. Thank you Robert Kirkman!
