The S.S.D.D. is the creation of Ray Roche, a 56 year old Government employee with the Irish Police Force (An Garda Siochana in Gaelic). Using his experience and inside knowledge he has produced a new comic series The S.S.D.D. which stands for The Supernatural and Superhero Detective Division of An Garda Siochana. The series is set in an alternate Universe where Dublin is the centre of magical power and people use and accept magic and superhuman abilities as everyday things.
Twenty-five years ago a serial killer was active, abducting young girls. The police at the time caught him and he was killed in the arrest. In the present children are going missing again and bags of bones are turning up in the streets of Dublin just as they had before. Two Dublin Detectives, Bo Rodgers and Sam Clarke, are tasked with finding and stopping the killer once and for all. Most of the powerful magic users and superheroes have gone to America where they receive sponsorship and stardom. The S.S.D.D. is not well funded or treated seriously until now.
It is a story of Government cover-ups, conspiracies, secrets and revelations about the police and the clergy and the political state at the time. It’s a black comedy with two very unusual Detectives and background characters, it’s policework from a very, very different angle
