Our story this issue is The Rhodian Column which is the 252nd Phantom daily story written by Tony DePaul and drawn by Mike Manley.
Tony DePaul, is the current anointed writer of the American daily and Sunday stories, and as such he's fully versed in the dark history of animosity that exist between the central villain in this story and the Phantom. After all Chatu, also know as the Python is a character and creation of Tony's imaginative pen. The Python whose first appearance in a Phantom story was in Terror of Mawitaan, is an international terrorist originally from Bangalla. He is currently a captive of the Wambesi, but even from a prison cell in the jungle, he manages to exert influence and presents a danger to the Phantom and his family.
