About the Author

Born in 1911 in Brooklyn, New York, Gardner Fox was probably the single most imaginative and productive writer in the Golden Age of comics. In the 1940s, he created or co-created dozens of long-running features for DC Comics, including the Flash, Hawkman, the Sandman, and Doctor Fate, as well as penning most of the adventures of comics’ first super-team, the Justice Society of America. He was also the second person to script Batman, beginning somewhere around the Dark Knight Detective’s third story. For other companies over the years Fox also wrote Skyman, the Face, Jet Powers, Dr. Strange, Doc Savage and many others—including Crom the Barbarian, the first sword-and-sorcery series in comics. Following the revival in the late 1950s of the super-hero genre, Fox assembled Earth’s Mightiest Heroes once more and scripted an unbroken 65-issue run of Justice League of America. Though he produced thousands of other scripts and wrote over 100 books, it is perhaps this body of work for which he is best known. Fox passed away in 1986.

Good survey of The Flash's career.Just what I wanted.

One of the most enduring superheroes of the DC House is the Flash. With an engaging backstory and some of the best villains in the DC Universe, The Flash remains fresh and entertaining even after 75 years. This book tracks the birth of the Flash in the Golden Age of comics and his upgrading and rebirth in the Silver Age.
The format is very engaging and the coloration of past issues is spot on. If you are an aficionado or the Scarlet Speedster or a newbie, it doesn't matter. This one volume will give you both the development and texture of one of the all time favorites of the time when DC ruled and Marvel was an also ran.

I have never been much of a reader of comics, I think I owned a few back when I was a child. But they have always had somewhat of a limited appeal to me. Not because I hold anything against them, just not my cup of tea. But...
I binge watched the new Flash series recently, the flash has always been a superhero that I have particularly like, I remember enjoying the 90's series of the flash when I was younger.
So stumbling across this collection was really quite a pleasant surprise. As a person who doesn't really follow comics it was nice to have this volume which gives you a good snapshot of the flash from his beginnings all the way up to his most recent portrayals.
It was a fun read, and I learned quite a lot! Will I be buying more comics... probably not. But if you are like me, then this is a really good buy.

I love this book. The variety of comics integrated to only one book is incredible. Apart from the amount of comic, you are reading and looking at one of the first comics created for The Flash. Not only that, you are also seeing the improvements from the old to the new and the amazing arts.

My kid really enjoyed it, being a Flash fan. He surprised me by saying he likes the old art style better. THIS was a great opportunity to share with him my own comic experience growing up. Highly recommended, and very cool looking to boot.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent quality & detailed The Flash Graphic Novel!

Hi, for those interested in learning more about classic The Flash stories then this would be a good place to start. I personally found the movie that released in June 2023 to be very enjoyable. Though for those that're not fans of Ezra there's no reason not to check out this first of 3 major Graphic Novel reprints currently on the market. Reprinted here (on quality paper) are a selection of the best stories from the past 75 years. From the earliest strips where The Flash looked like a comedy Fireman to the most recent classic stories focussing on the aftermath of Flashpoint - All readers will find something to enjoy! There are also some pages that provide interesting information into the creation and history of The Flash and his importance to popular culture. An excellent purchase! Must remember to grab the other two special edition Graphic Novels!

5.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THE FLASH GO FOR IT
Reviewed in India on September 29, 2017
This is a handsomely mounted glossy collection of stories that record the evolution of The Flash from the first issue to the recent Flashpoint series. The stories are well chosen and the ones from the Golden and Silver ages are complete. But I guess it wouldn't be possible to give the whole story as far as more recent stories are concerned.
One gets to see how the art, story telling and characterization evolved and developed through the years. If you are a fan of The Flash this is a must have.
