The Batman Who Laughs (2018-2019) #1 Kindle & comiXology

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 248 ratings

“A Batman who laughs is a Batman who always wins.” Left rattled by the events of DARK NIGHTS: METAL, Bruce Wayne must come face to face with the nightmares spawned from the Dark Multiverse. But even though evil devoured evil in the collapse of Challengers Mountain, the Dark Knight still has his doubts. He discovers that the Batman Who Laughs not only survived the fight with The Joker at the end of METAL, but now he is enacting a sinister plan across the Multiverse—something both terrifying and oddly familiar. But when Bruce Wayne realizes the only way to stop this madman is to kill him, he must consider violating the very rule Batman won’t break…the same rule that created this insatiable villain—the Batman Who Laughs!

If joker is your favorite then you'll need to get this story. It has all your favorite s Snyder's writing, and joker written as a scary threat.

Me loving the Joker already , makes this a dream come true, as I get to see Batman without his morality checks

Batman at his best and kinda spooky but crazy fun. Illustrations are off the charts, a great fusion of talent at it's best.

To preface, I ordered this book hoping for a conflicted hero who borders on anti hero similar to dark knight, or battling an enemy that makes you almost pull for them once they begin stating why they do what they do.

This is a graphic novel equivalent of a shoot em up movie. Huge fight scene with 10 characters with only one mattering by the end to open the comic? Check. Two pages of mostly text panels to barf out backstory? Check. By the end of the comic had anyone or anything changed for any sake other than to have done it? Check. The story is truly awful
All that being said it still gets 3 stars ( for hardcover) due to the fantastic print quality, amazing artwork, few pages of exciting fight scenes with some lock screen worthy panels, and despite the story having no real arc, it does tie together the loose ends to a somewhat satisfying end.
If you are extremely interested in the dark/bold/intense style artwork this is definitely worth it, if story is a major factor for you, you will be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a full comic, only a few pages. Not a graphic novel or anthology.

Love the comic, didn’t like that it’s only a few pages long. This is a lot of money for a few pages. I kind of assumed I was buying the complete story. Obviously In retrospect it would be more expensive for that but this didn’t say it wasn’t a full story.

1.0 out of 5 stars only 10 pages dont pay £4 for this
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 23, 2023
seriously not worth it, its £4 for like 10 pages, just go out and buy the physical copies, youll save more money rather than paying for 7 issues for £4 pound, bad value for a digital release.
