Tales of Anieth - Thorn

Teig's sister, Princess Sceta, is gifted with magic. She is destined to rule the Summer People. Teig's fate is to be her champion or to leave the Summer People and marry another magical queen and rule for nineteen years. At the end of his rule, Teig will not retire, he will be killed in an ancient rite to purify the land. Yet Sceta has a powerful vision that Teig will not be a warrior or a king but a famous priest when the Summer Nation is invaded by foreigners from Zelosia.

Yet all Teig wants is to be an astronomer. He hates magic for it will take away his father, King Raol, in the king sacrifice. Raol makes it possible for Teig to go study astronomy, but Raol leaves for Zelosia on the eve of his death. The law states that the nearest male relation must then step into the king's place as the sacrifice. Suddenly, Sceta's vision of Zelosia looks more appealing to Teig for all he despises the priesthood. Then he is offered another choice, one more terrifying: to leave his home and travel deep into the demon-haunted wood. Is it a chance or is it a trap?
