About the Author
Since selling his first story to DC Comics in 2007, Sterling has written such titles as Green Lantern Corps, Justice League of America, World's Finest, Action Comics, Adventure Comics, Flashpoint: Kid Flash Lost, Hawk & Dove, JLA: Vibe, Forever Evil: A.R.G.U.S., Stormwatch and The Flash: Season Zero, but he is best known for his critically acclaimed run on Supergirl. Alongside writers Geoff Johns, James Robinson and Greg Rucka, Sterling co-wrote the New York Times best-selling Superman: New Krypton Saga graphic novel series, including Superman: New Krypton, Superman: The Last Stand of New Krypton and Superman: War of The Supermen.
Sterling scripted the Man of Steel prequel comic (based on a story by David S. Goyer, Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder) in a joint digital-publishing venture between DC Comics and Wal-Mart, and he served as writer/producer on the award-winning, independent, live-action superhero feature film, The Posthuman Project.
Sterling also wrote Adventures of Supergirl, a digital-first comic book based on CBS' hit television show, Supergirl. He's currently working on a number of super-secret projects he wishes he could tell you about, but seriously, they're super-secret.

About the author
Sterling Gates has written stories featuring some of the biggest superheroes in the world, including Superman, Supergirl, Spider-Man, Batman, Green Lantern, the Justice League, and the Flash. He is the cowriter of the New York Times best-selling "Superman: New Krypton Saga" graphic novel series, including SUPERMAN: NEW KRYPTON, SUPERMAN: THE LAST STAND OF NEW KRYPTON, and SUPERMAN: WAR OF THE SUPERMEN.
Gates was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and studied filmmaking and art at the University of Oklahoma. He moved to Los Angeles in 2006, where he worked first as a writer's room production assistant and later as personal assistant to comic book legend Geoff Johns.
Gates' critically acclaimed run on SUPERGIRL with artist Jamal Igle redefined the character for a new generation and was named one of the "100 Greatest Superhero Comics of All Time" by The Hollywood Reporter in 2016. ADVENTURES OF SUPERGIRL Vol. 1 was selected by YALSA as one of 2017's "Great Graphic Novels for Teens." Gates and artist Matthew Clark contributed a Supergirl story to the Eisner and Ringo award-winning anthology, LOVE IS LOVE. Gates is also known for co-creating the popular DC Comics character, Caitlin Snow, with artist Derlis Santacruz.
Gates has written for various other media, including the CW's hit shows, SUPERGIRL and THE FLASH, Marvel Animation Studios' SPIDER-MAN, and Spin Master's SUPER DINOSAUR. Gates co-wrote THE FLASH episode "Enter Flashtime" with Todd Helbing, and that episode was selected by TV Guide as one of the "Best 25 Episodes of Television in 2018." Gates also served as co-writer and producer of the award-winning independent superhero film, THE POSTHUMAN PROJECT.
A proud Eagle Scout, Gates currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

For those of you collection the New Krypton Event:
#44, you need to read Superman: Codename Patriot
From Action Comics #881 to Supergirl #47, we get the Supergirl: Friends and Fugitives storyline
From the Annual to the end of book, Supergirl: Death and the Family storyline
The great cover artist, Joshua Middleton, drew a few of the covers of the original issues that are included in this collection - in what I'd describe as a simpler style than he uses now, but really stunning stuff.
I'd also like to shout out about the short offbeat story included from Superman Secret Files 2009, "Blood Sisters" - set on Krypton, it's a look back at an adventure a younger Kara had with her best friend at the time, Thara. Thara is heavily involved in the New Krypton saga, functioning as the character Flamebird on earth, and at odds with Kara for much of the series due to a tragic misunderstanding.
He was able to define Kara without undermining her journey, or talking down to an audience, and created a Superman-family comic that was consistantly the best book on comic stands, month in and month out.
Jamal Igle was able to treat Supergirl with a visual style that made her look heroic, without sexualizing her. She looked her age, she was expressive, and her body-type was realistic and that was extremely refreshing.
Anybody picking up this trade (and the others collecting the run) would be adding something special to their fandom.
This is not to be missed.
