Strike force has an interesting take on superheroes. I enjoyed the three volumes. Nothing against Mr. Hudnall, whose writing was fine, but I would have liked to have seen the complete idea on the series by Mr. Gillis.

Mark Bagleys art keeps this above a 1 star review....but that's about all there is to this. A lot of meandering ideas that never really develop, very little to make the characters anything but one or two idiosyncrasies(this one is angry a lot, this one is nervous), and a deus ex machina ending to the series that leads to no ending at all in the miniseries follow up.

James D. Hudnall and Mark Bagley's conclusion to the STRIKEFORCE MORITURI series and their subsequent miniseries ELECTRIC UNDERTOW tied up a lot of the threads from Peter Gillis and Brent Anderson's original incarnation of the series, and the story set 10 years after the war's end sets up a new status quo with a lot of potential ... but Marvel left it on the table at that point, probably owing to poor sales.

This isn't the series as it started out, and the criticisms below are valid, especially in comparison to the first 20 issues. But there are good things in here; the series' portrayal of power brokers behind the scenes of government and the link between war and industry, in particular, remain relevant today.

And as a piece of comics archeology, this volume offers the reader some parallels between the world of ELECTRIC UNDERTOW and what would come several years later in the Marvel 2099 imprint.
