Strange Adventures feels a lot less accessible than Mister Miracle. This one is a more challenging to follow and this issue may be the most confusing yet. The series has always jumped back and forward in time but now we may be moving into the territory of delusions or perhaps drug induced hallucinations. Adam Strange appears to perhaps be talking to the man from issue #1 who accused him of war crimes and was subsequently murdered. Are we back in time or is this a hallucination? We even get a literal acid trip. I guess maybe King is implying that Adam’s trips to Rann were actually acid trips. It’s confusing but still intriguing.
Issue #7 has a very good 8.7 on ComicBookRoundup from 7 professional reviewers and a less spectacular 8.1 User Score. The series has been moving very slowly but we’re getting some of the answers in this issue. One interesting thing is that although Mr Terrific appears on the cover, I believe this is the first issue where he makes no appearance. It appears that this whole series may be about a mental breakdown of Adam Strange and now I don’t know what is real. Maybe the Pykkt have done something to Adam’s mind in preparation of an invasion. Maybe he’s already in the clutches of the Pykkt. Whatever is going on, I’m very curious.
