I read the novel more than 30 years ago and enjoyed it tremendously, so I decided to give the graphic novel a try. It's a decent interpretation but due to the limits of length you often face in a graphic novel it lacks a few of the story elements that a print novel can offer. There are a few story elements that are glossed over or not even mentioned. For that reason it just doesn't reach the same level of story telling that the print version achieved. If your a fan of Star Wars and Han Solo in particular you won't be disappointed. But let's be clear, the print novel is a better interpretation of this story.

Han Solo at Stars' End (Star Wars: The Han Solo Adventures, #1)
by Brian Daley
This is the first book of a Trilogy it will stand out in the annals of the Star Wars Legends. Although I personally think it should be canon. This story looks on how Han Solo changed the world he lived in by finding his humanity in others. He finds that a dear friend has been kidnapped. Which starts a debacle that Han Solo is mainly the reason that everything is blowing up. What I would describe most about the book is how Han Solo attempts to solve his problems in the most spectacular way, he is the kind of man that would make a mountain out of a molehill and not get the reason why. He tends to make situations far worse than they should be, just by rushing into things not thinking them through. When I described the story to my daughter I told her about the conundrum that Han got himself and Chewy in, she laughed and said yep that is how I see him doing things. Brian Daley captures the essence of the character that women have fallen for since the first movie. The gorgeous rouge who just goes with his guts, and finds that his loyalty will always cause him problems. Thank you Brian for giving us a story we can chuckle at still admire the character that is the legend, Han Solo. Now onto the next book in the series.

Well, that dashing, daring, and devoius Han Solo has done it again. More excitement, more adventure! Being an avid Star Wars fan, I've spent most of my free time reading and re-reading this book. I love it! I would recomend this to any Star Wars fan, young or old. I tried to get multiple opinions in this book by my friends, and it seems that if you don't know a lick about Star Wars, you probably won't understand some of this book. But if you are familiar with SW, Hang On!! You're on for a pretty wild ride. Now, I will admit it, there are a few parts in there where I felt kind of. . . uh. . . sleepy. ..(Maybe I stayed up longer than I thought reading it. . ) but the abundance of action and suspence quickly banish it away. All in all, I would say this is a very good book. Some might say Han is just to brave (or to stupid) to be realistic. But, as Han would say, "Hey, its Me!"

While the plot and the script follow the excellent book upon which this is based fairly well, the end results fall short of the mark.
Jessa looks kinda like she's described in the book, but the other characters aren't really recognizable, even Han and Chewie. While the ship renditions are fairly good, the only thing they got right was the Falcon -- there weren't any TIEs in the novel, and those little fighters in the comic aren't Z-95s.
The art is too childish, and the words are too big, and the coloring and detail is a bit dull. Still, all of this is somewhat overcome by a fairly exciting story and a fast pace.
Another plus is the low price. If you're into Star Wars, it's worth the money.

Stilted dialogue, uninspired artwork, and a dull storyline. This one was not worth the time to read...Trust me true believers unless its for nostalgia or sheer bloody mindedness--I would give this one a pass

Simple, yet effective, artwork with an over-average storyline. The timeline is set prior to A New Hope. Fans of Han & Chewie (especially Han) will enjoy this adventure. Blue Max is a powerful compact cube droid whose looks are deceiving. Herkin is an interesting foe who enjoys watching arena droid battles. Reasonable price for this Star Wars Legends story.

Nice classic art but the story is nothing special. Basically it's a heist story which is the kind of story I would expect Han Solo to go on before the movies but it's also why Han shouldn't have solo (wink wink) adventures. It's too basic and could have been in any universe.
