If you haven’t taken the time to read the original 1st issue of WW, the digital version is available for free. (I suspect it’s because it fell into the Public Domain).
Anyhow, images of “contemporary” WW is here from the island of her birth and its original name, to rescuing Steve and subsequently foiling a Nazi trap. You have the bare-bone story that we all know and love.
But, there are quite a few topics and tropes that in some cases furthered the limiting beliefs of its time whether it be what “the role of a woman is,” “What is the proper etiquette for a woman?”
There’s also tropes, not so slightly playing on a certain ethnic minority as depicted by his physical description, job, unethical business dealing. He was also, not so subtly hanging on a wooden pole. The imagery was not lost on me.
This was a snapshot of an industry eighty (80) years ago and maybe the readers sensibility but I love the changes that have been made to this character since then.
And, I mean a whole lot.

Not a fan of digital comics , I would rather hold one and turn the pages ,but having the option to get some of these golden age classic is awesome .

This one's definitely worth a look, not because of its groundbreaking feminine twist on the historically masculine genre, but because of its unintentional hilarity. Wonder Woman may have become a pop culture icon... but how? This comic is so silly and sexist that modern readers will either roll their eyes at least twice per page or become outraged (probably both, actually). Still, it's pretty fun to see the genesis of the classic character.

The times have changed for sure but it was enjoyable reading a classic story of Wonder Woman! Very good read!

Quick read, old school humor, old school artwork. The whole series they have been releasing is a blast. If you have a problem with WW it's probably just sour grapes >.<

Very interesting to see the origin of Wonder Woman and how progressive she was in a male-dominated world.

This is a vintage comic book from the 1940s that establishes almost all the basic elements about Wonder Woman: her love for Steve Trevor, her invisible plane, her bulletproof bracelets, and her secret identity. The only thing it lacks is her lasso of truth. It's hokey as all the early comics were but fun.

Tem valor histórico, mas é uma narrativa datada
Reviewed in Brazil on February 28, 2021
