#1 NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller
Fifteen years ago, Dashiell "Dash" Bad Horse ran away from a life of poverty and hopelessness on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in search of something better. Now he's come back home armed with nothing but a set of nunchucks, a hell-bent-for-leather attitude and one dark secret, to find nothing much has changed on "The Rez" - short of a glimmering new casino run by a corrupt leader named Red Crow, and a once-proud people overcome by drugs and organized crime.
In this volume, Red Crow takes on a new challenger for tribal leadership, Dash pursues his mother's murderer and Officer Falls Down faces a most unusual captivity.

Scalped remains the best graphic novel series out there. Many do not admit they read comics, and many do. The many who do will enjoy the qulaity of Jason Aaron;s Scalped; think of the Sopranos but on an Indian Reservation. This has been done before-aka the mediocre Thunderheart movie, but the Scalped series is different with Aaron pulling no punches as he relates the grim lives of Native American characters, and the plain old Americans-all of whom are flawed in some way. If you like sex, violence, drama, betrayal, gambling, drinking, revenge-Scalped has all of this, and more. Would make a great HBO series.

Scalped is one of the best on-going serial dramas in any format (comic, TV, etc.). Jason Aaron is a tremendous writer. I like what he's done with The Punisher but I really feel this is where he has come into his own and exhibits his vast talents. If you are a fan of incredibly well written, intricate storylines like what we saw on HBO's The Wire, then give this comic a try. You will not be disappointed. My only criticism would be I'd love to see these trade paperbacks printed on better stock so they last a long, long time on my shelves.

Another great chapter in the Scalped saga. Brutal, brilliantly written and illustrated, and I'm going to miss reading the series when I'm done.

Scalped Volume 8: Gotta Sin To Get Saved collects issues #43-49

I just finished this volume of Scalped and had to write a quick review seeing there was none here yet. If you're reading this you're obviously already a fan of the series. I only recently started reading Scalped, even though I'd heard about it's greatness for a few years now. I bought and read all 8 trades within the past 2 months and think it's one of the greatest comic series I've ever read. I've honestly never read anything bad by Jason Aaron (his current run on Marvel's Punisher is incredible!)

If you love drawn out, in depth storytelling like Y: The Last Man or Walking Dead you will LOVE Scalped! As I've told friends of mine, if Breaking Bad is your favorite show on television, Scalped will be your favorite comic. While the stories couldn't be more different it has that same level of intensity and deeply troubled characters that make it so engaging issue after issue.

Content of this volume: (some spoilers possible below)

A Come-To-Jesus: An issue looking into the character of Wooster T Karnow, Sheriff from White Haven Nebraska. While we've seen this character before this is the first in depth look at him. Based on the issue I'm assuming he's going to be quite important in current and upcoming issues.

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down: An issue looking at the total mental breakdown of one of "Scalped" biggest bastards Baylis Nitz. This guy is a grade A jerk and its to Jason Aaron's credit that Nitz is a train wreck of a character that you can't turn away from. One of the best issues in the trade.

You Got to Sin to Get Saved: 5 issues focusing on the main storyline. Carol's new chance at life and how Dino fits in. Red Crow in a political battle with his former mentor. As well as Falls Down, Dash and Catcher all in deep deep trouble...Oh Catcher, you crazy crazy man.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book immediately. Scalped is one of the only books where I truly can't wait to read the next issue. Thanks for being awesome Jason Aaron, keep it coming!

This flawless series continues with an excellent eighth volume, "You Gotta Sin To Get Saved", which sees Bad Horse receive an offer from Red Crow that will change everything - either he gets to take down Red Crow or replace him. Carol's presence in Granma's house has an unfortunate side effect on Poor Bear and an ominous consequence later on in the series, if the rantings of Catcher are to be believed, while the fate of Officer Falls Down is decided, the killer of Bad Horse's mother becomes desperate and crazier still, and there are a couple of side stories for Sheriff Karnow and Agent Nitz.

This is another packed book of characters that get more interesting as the pages go by. The intrigue is relentless and the desperation of some of the characters amped up so much it's unbelievable. All I can say is that this is another home run from Jason Aaron and RM Guera and anyone who's following this series and is wondering if the quality is dipping as the series winds down will be pleased to know that if anything it's getting better. Absolute top quality writing and artwork from everyone involved, I loved it and cannot wait until the next volume comes out.

If you are new to this series, stop reading this and pick up Volume 1. This has everything you would want in a series from compelling characters to defining moments that will leave you wanting more. If you read superhero's exclusively, then give this series a go, you will not be disappointed.
