I don’t have a whole lot to say except that this book is awesome. I love the self-awareness of the writing. The art is incredible. When reading it, I often stay on one page just to marvel at how good it is.
Archie Comics has done a lot of crossover events. The Punisher, Kiss, Glee, the Predator, Shakbado, Batman 66, ect. Betty and Veronica has met Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. And now they’re meeting Vamperilla and Red Sonja. These characters are versatile. They’ve proven to be able to adapt to horror, sci fi, humor, drama and any other genre imaginable.
Crossovers have become a part of Archie’s brand. And not just because they’re fun, but because they work! I’m happy to say that Archie Comics has done it again with Red Sonja & Vampirella Meet Betty & Veronica. This is another Archie Comics crossover idea that may seem zany at first, but in the hands of the right creative team, it becomes a gripping tale and a great read.
In addition to the first 6 issues of this 12-issue story, this trade contains a fantastic cover gallery. It even includes the shop-exclusive covers. The Dan Parent covers are my favorite, but there’s plenty of other good stuff in there too.
This is a must read for any Archie Comics fan. If you’re a curious Vamperilla and Red Sonja fan, this is also worth a read. Don’t pass this one up!
