Red Hood and the Outlaws (2011-2015) Vol. 5: The Big Picture Kindle & comiXology

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 207 ratings

A warrior princess. A weapons master. A resurrected Robin. Starfire, Arsenal, and Red Hood – the Outlaws – have come by their heroism the hard way. They've been beaten down, cast out, even killed. That's what makes some of the most powerful criminals in the world, even the universe, underestimate them.

And that's a big mistake.

The terrorist mastermind called Ra's al Ghul, whose endless life has long been intertwined with the Red Hood's, is gunning for the power of a god. A secretive crimelord who built his enormous fortune by slaughtering wealthy families down to the last heir is preparing an ambush. And in the deeps of space, an indescribably deadly warlord is testing a weapon that could destroy all life on earth with a touch of a button. This madman — this Main Man — is known simply as Lobo.

But to Red Hood and the Outlaws, he's just the next challenge to take down…or die trying…

Writers James Tynion IV (BATMAN ETERNAL) and Will Pfeifer (TEEN TITANS) join a team of talented artists for RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS VOL. 5: THE BIG PICTURE—pitting the toughest team in the New 52 against their biggest foes to date! Collects issues #27-31 and DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS #17-18.

This series went down hill quickly thanks to Scott Lobdell's writing, but this volume does start to restore what I liked about it at the beginning.

Destiné aux inconditionnels des comics comme moi-même (dommage que cette série divertissante n' a jamais été traduite en français) fait partie de la franchise Batman

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad. But not to the calibre of Lobdell's work
Reviewed in Canada on February 8, 2015
Mixed material. First two issues finishes off the cliffhanger in volume 4. Next three issues are written by Will Pfeifer. I've never read his material before, but I found his story arc a grind to go through and definitely not on par with Scott Lobdell's first three volumes.

There are also two stand alone issues. The Arsenal issue is a throwback to what makes this series stand out.

Overall, not bad. But not to the calibre of Lobdell's work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent.

While I love the characters, I'm often confused by the direction this series went in.

Also angered that only ONE issue in this Volume is tied to the cliffhanger of the last volume. Would have been much, MUCH better to include that issue in the last volume so Volume 4 could contain the full story arc. Feels like a cheap ploy to get people to buy this volume, which otherwise contains some standalone stories, which I rather liked, much more than the boring Ra's Al Ghul story.
