Collects Rachel Rising # 25-30

In the aftermath of last volume's big fight, there's more emphasis on humor for a bit. Jet and Johnny are back to normal. Rachel touches Zoe's knife and learns where it's been. Malus gets "killed" a couple more times. Rachel begins to try to find out who strangled her.
In my opinion, although the series dipped a bit in the last volume, in this one it's picked back up. It all depends on how much plot and/or character development you think needs to happen in a book to keep you satisfied and eager for the next part of the story.

Don't start here but if you've enjoyed Rachel Rising so far this continues the narrative in new and interesting directions.

Terry Moore continues to deliver some of the richest characters in comics with a wry and off beat charm. The plot spins its wheels a bit in this volume, but the relationships are worth the focus.

In Night Cometh, the Rachel series doesn’t so much rise as fall, both in my interest and expectations. While there are still some brilliantly creepy moment – psychotic child Zoe rat-catching is simultaneously terrifying and funny – the storyline seems to mostly have devolved to a magical musical game of chairs, with spirits jumping in and out of bodies willy-nilly. Serious injuries, even death, are no longer serious – so where are the stakes? Sure, we discover there’s a serial killer (other than Zoe) on the loose in Manson…but who cares? Moore’s series, which started so promisingly, seems to have lost its way, meandering around the edges of the plot rather than getting to it. While I still adore the book’s design – the epigrams, the sly black and white art – I think for me volume six is where the end cometh for this series.
