About the Author
In a career that has spanned nearly 30 years, Wolfman has helped shape the heroic careers of DC Comics' Green Lantern, Blackhawk and the original Teen Titans, as well as Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and Nova. In addition to co-creating THE NEW TEEN TITANS and the universe-shattering CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS with George Pérez, Wolfman was instrumental in the revamp of Superman after CRISIS, the development of THE NEW TEEN TITANS spinoff series VIGILANTE, DEATHSTROKE THE TERMINATOR and TEAM TITANS, and created such characters as Blade for Marvel, along with NIGHT FORCE and the retooled DIAL "H" FOR HERO for DC.
In addition to his numerous comic-book credits, Wolfman has also written several novels and worked in series television and animation, including the Superman cartoon of the late 1980s and currently the hit Teen Titans show on Cartoon Network. His novelization of CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS was published in the spring of 2005 by iBooks.

About the author
Marv Wolfman has created more characters that have gone on to television, animation, movies and toys than any other comics creator since Stan Lee. Marv is the writer-creator of Blade, the Vampire Hunter which has been turned into three hit movies starring Wesley Snipes, as well as a TV series. Marv also created Bullseye, the prime villain in the 2003 movie, Daredevil, and was the writer-creator of the New Teen Titans which was a runaway hit show on the Cartoon Network. It has also been picked up as a live action movie. Marv's character Cyborg, has also been featured on the TV show Smallville, while his Superman creation, Cat Grant, was a regular on the Lois And Clark, The New Adventures of Superman TV series. Many of Marv's other characters have appeared on many animated series.
Beyond comics, Marv writes video games, novels, cartoons, animation and lots more. Marv wrote the direct-to-video animated movie, The Condor, for POW Entertainment, released in March, 2007, and just completed his newest direct-to-DVD animated movie, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract" based on his own comic story. Marv also wrote the novelization of Superman Returns" - which won the industry SCRIBE Award for best speculative fiction novel adapted, as well as co-wrote the "Superman Returns" Electronic Arts video-game. His book "Homeland," the Illustrated History of the State of Israel" was published in April 2007 and has already won many awards including the prestigious National Jewish Book Award. He has also written a novel based on his own comic, Crisis on Infinite Earths which was published in April, 2005. Marv was also Editorial Director for 15 graphic albums for the educational market, targeting high school students who read with a 3rd -5th grade level.
Marv co-created and co-wrote The Gene Pool, a feature length live-action movie. Marv has written dozens of animated TV episodes as well as developed and story-edited the animated series' The Transformers, The Adventures of Superman and Monster Force.
Marv has also been Editor-in-Chief at Marvel Comics, senior editor at DC Comics and founding editor of Disney Adventures magazine. He has also edited and produced educational comics and was given a special commendation by the White House for his work on three anti-drug comics for the "Just Say No" program.
Marv is married to his lovely wife, Noel, a senior producer at Blizzard entertainment, and has a wonderful daughter, Jessica, from his first marriage. Marv & Noel also have a obstreperous Keeshond dog named Elle Dee Deux (L.D.) who is currently chewing on everything that is and isn't nailed down.

A lot of us middle-aged comics fanboys grew up on THE NEW TEEN TITANS, written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by George Pérez. Thirty-five years later, this popular relaunch of a previously cheesy (though often fun) title about DC's young superhero sidekicks holds up very well.
Volume One includes the first eight issues as well as the special introductory insert from DC COMICS PRESENTS no. 26. The mysterious Raven assembles a team of heroes (Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Changeling, Starfire and Cyborg) to help her defeat her demon father, Trigon the Terrible. Also, we get the first appearances of Deathstroke the Terminator, the H.I.V.E. and the Fearsome Five.
Yeah, the stories were heavy on soap opera. But these Titans were almost immediately more interesting than the same era's Batman, Superman, Flash and other DC heroes whose personalities hadn't changed much in ages. Issue no. 8's "A Day in the Lives," a look at the individual Titans on their day off, is a case in point. Who else was spending 22 pages exploring the lives of heroes while they were off-duty?
The Pérez artwork is lovely - and it just got stronger as the series continues! These issues look better than most comics on the stands today.
This book makes a fine read for Titans newbies who are curious because of the modern media references (two animated Titans series on Cartoon Network, a live-action Titans series in the works, live-action appearances by various Titans characters in television and movies) or aging Titans fans who can't locate their old comics in the battered long boxes anymore.
Get addicted! And get a kid you know into them as well.
I remembered reading the Original Teen Titians, I was kind of worried how the new series would be with only a few original members but the series was Fantastic!!!!!
When DC decided to create their mega event, Crisis on Infinite Earths, they called on Marv Wolfman and George Perez, the creators of the New Teen Titans so that tells you something about the level of respect they earned. I confess that I don’t LOVE Marv Wolfman’s writing. He is a product of the 60’s and 70’s and includes a lot of excessive expository dialogue as well as writing characters that can be incredibly annoying. I’m looking at you Beast Boy (Changling). On the other hand, in one issue Wolfman and Perez managed to create three characters (Starfire, Raven and Cyborg) that have endured to this day and remain very popular. In fact Cyborg has managed to reach the top tier with his inclusion in the upcoming Justice League movie. Not only that but issue two introduces Deathstroke who at the time was called Deathstroke the Terminator.
The Omnibus features their introduction in DC Comics Presents #26 and the first 20 issues. This is actually the second time DC has produced a New Teen Titans Omnibus, the first one released in 2011. Although the product description for the original Omnibus lists it containing the first 16 issues the reviews reveal it features the first 20 which makes sense since both Omnibus have almost exactly the same page count, the original has 684 and the new version has 688. This might be due to the new four page introduction by Marv Wolfman. The physical dimensions are exactly the same but since I don’t own the first Omnibus I can’t comment on the image quality. As far as I can tell this is essentially a re-release of the Omnibus with some cosmetic changes. DC also released archive versions starting in 1999 but those are inferior to the Omnibus books and pretty much every way possible unless you have difficulties with the physical size of the Omnibus books, and some people do.
The stories here definitely have an 80’s feel to them but having read a lot of recent Rebirth stories they don’t look bad in comparison. For what you get the price is fantastic and I highly recommend picking the book up.
