This is part of an arc in which Brother Voodoo's dead brother seeks revenge for the death of Brother Voodoo. The spirit jumps from Avenger to Avenger in a massive fight. I enjoyed it, but remember your comics history, Mr. Bendis. In Avengers #2, the original Avengers, the villain could not possess Thor, and that led to his defeat.
Thor's a god, for goodness sake.
