Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project Volume 7 Kindle & comiXology

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 34 ratings

You didn't really think all this raising being inflicted on Shinji by his parents and guardian was without constructive purpose, did you... a purpose, perhaps, related to giant robotlike things? As Yui deals with the fallout from the Jet Alone affair, her son tries to mind his own affairs... but usually just ends up falling.

Neon Genesis Evangelion The Shinji Ikari Raising Project continues with volume 7. The unlikely alliance of Asuka and Rei, who put aside there romantic rivalry to work together in catching a ghost like an episode of Scooby-Doo. Let me just say poor Karou he's no longer a Shinji orbiter but demoted to a simp who's a minor supporting character. Shinji the main character is growing stronger and better. There's a ton of callbacks to the original series that will make you do the Leonardo DeCaprio meme of him pointing. Its all good stuff the Evangelion cast continues delivering the laughs and of course the fanservice.

I enjoyed this volume but I felt as if Rei and Asuka aren't getting any closer to Shinji. I don't think I even saw Kaworu in this volume, and if I did, it was only for a page or two. Mana Kirishima, is barley in this as well, which makes me disappointed because I'd like to see her character develop and I like to watch how jealous Rei and Asuka get when she's around lol.
I'm reading volume 8 currently and I'll write a review for that when I finish it. Hope my review helped :)
