As a young boy I was fascinated by comics. Everything from the Garfield strips in the Sunday paper to graphic novels like the Death of Superman. I also loved watching my favorite characters come to life on the small screen. Saturday mornings I was glued to the TV to watch X-Men, Spider-Man, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Then Tim Burton's Batman came out in theaters, and I thought I had died and went to heaven. I knew that I wanted to be immersed in the world of comic books, but it would be many years before I actually turned my dream into reality.

I grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before moving to Portland, Oregon where I met my wife. We lived near Portland for a couple of years before starting our adventure in China. What was originally supposed to be a two-year escapade has turned into a whole new chapter of our lives.

I now use my unique experiences as an American living abroad as inspiration for my stories. Some of the friends I've met along the way have become my characters. Shexie Meiren, for example, is modeled after my friend, the lovely Cathy Xu (you can see her feature on my website I'm always thinking of new ideas to expand my comic universe. Who knows, maybe my next character could be you!
