Despite having all the Ennis' trademarks (gritty but exhilarating violence, pitch-black humour, punk social commentary, and PTSDied veterans), the second and last part of Jimmy's Bastards falls a bit flat after its explosive beginning.
Without spoiling the end, I can at least say that it was expected, underwhelming and cheapened some central and interesting elements established in the first part that would have deserved better.
It's still a fairly good comic, but it's under par and a bit lazy for Ennis.
There is nothing too complex to get your head round here... Ennis is having fun with James Bond and there is no subtlety to this whatsoever. It’s all up front, all of the page... and then it’s over.
Watchmen this is not but an easy read it is.
