Jen and Kira’s greatest fear has been realized as the Crystal is broken once more, and the evil Skeksis have returned, eager to regain their cruel dominance over the world. Written by Simon Spurrier (The Spire, X-Men Legacy) and Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Warlords of Appalachia), and lushly illustrated by Kelly and Nichole Matthews (Toil & Trouble), The Power of the Dark Crystal continues the bestselling sequel to one of Jim Henson’s most revered creations. The story features a lead that is very unique to the Dark Crystal mythos and seeing the Skeksis being utilized in this series is always a treat to me.

I'm happy to say that the fast pace that the first volume ends with keeps up throughout the second volume. Middles are always the most difficult for storytellers but Vol. 2 never lags.
The cover gallery in the back is so stunning, I wish I could buy one as a poster.
As a huge Dark Crystal fan, I'm very happy with this series. I just wish I had kept up with social media enough to have known this was out sooner.

Really love this story !!! Production value though feels very rushed ... there is a page in the comic that the text is copied twice ??? So I have a story board that made no sense , then the next page it’s the same dialogue but this time it actually makes sense. I wonder what part of the story I missed due to a whole page just having repeat dialogue accidentally. Other than that , I’m very happy !!

The Dark Crystal story line makes me happy
Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2019
The quality of art in this one is a step down from the fist book. It feels very rushed.

The story continues predictably, feeling much like the movie. A sequel too much like the original, designed to please fans rather than take risks.

(SPOILER FROM BOOK 1) Can you believe the Chamberlain is creeping about on his own trying to get the shard from the Gelflings - again?!
