I love the Dark Crystal so I was excited to hear about a comic series based on the movie. The Power of the Dark Crystal takes place years after Jen fixed the crystal. Kira and Jen rule the land of Thra but things are not well. The land is sick and a young Fireling that comes from the center of the Earth needs a piece of the crystal to save her world.

I enjoyed this. The art is good and the story feels very much in the vein of what a Dark Crystal sequel would be like. While Jen and Kira don't really play a huge role in the story at the beginning, it does seem like they'll play a bigger role as the story continues. Most of the focus is on a new character named Thurma. She's a Fireling that comes to ask for the help of Geflings and while she seems a bit naive, she is an interesting character and you want to learn more about her people as well. The only real issue I had with this comic was the pacing as a bit rushed. Hopefully, that will be fixed in later issues. If you're not a diehard fan of the Dark Crystal, I would say skip this but I personally loved it and I think other fans will too.
