The words, "Tiger Queen" were enough to sell me, but add to that not one but TWO compelling female protagonists who aren't hyper-sexualized, and not relegated to being window-dressing for a less competent male's heroism, and you've got yourself a unique read especially guaranteed to delight a female or YA audience. I loved that Rook is not fetishized, wears appropriate armor, and has a realistic skill-set.
This title feels like one of those books you can read and re-read and still discover new hidden content each time; I look forward to having my lingering questions (hopefully) answered in upcoming volumes!
Unlike other graphic novels that use semi interesting art to convey important dialogue and info, Isola never wastes a single panel. The only words in this novel have been stripped to the bare bones. Imaginary curse words and incredible typography accurately convey onomatopoeia.
Every image is worthy of its own space in a gallery.
Comparisons will be made to anime and other media. But I don’t feel that is necessary. Isola quickly creates a world unlike one you’ve ever conceived, then immediately makes you fall in heart shattering love with it.

Now the story in here is interesting. It's the kind of style where you're dropped in to another world without any explanation and have to figure it out as you go. I generally like that style, though I think some things could use a bit more explanation. Words are used regularly that you dont get any understanding of until much later, and even the sound effects are even written in a made-up language. It's kind of like exploring a new world. I can't wait for the next one!
