Interviews with Monster Girls ends up being a very heartwarming story. Lead character Takahashi-sensei seems to be a pretty good guy; he is initially motivated by science and an interest in studying demi-humans (or "demis" as they prefer to be called), but he ends up being a counselor and friend to the demis at his school. The demis themselves are cute and interesting, too. There is Hikari the vampire who, during her interview with Takahashi, dispels some popular myths about her kind; she rather likes garlic and she is sort of curious about what it would be like to take blood from a human, although this causes no real harm to the human, she does not need to do so to survive, and she hasn't really found the "right one" yet for this purpose. Yuki is a yuki-onna (snow-woman) who overheats easily and who is the frequent object of Hikari's attention, as Yuki's body is cool and exposure to sunlight makes Hikari very warm. Kyoko is a dullahan who finds everyday life tricky since she has to carry her head around with her or have someone else do so for her. And, there is the new teacher Sakie who tries to play down the fact that she is a succubus by dressing plainly and avoiding contact with men.
The characters are all interesting and likeable, and the humor is quirky and enjoyable. For example, the analogy between Hikari not consuming blood and vegetarianism was pretty funny, as was Kyoko's description of what she does with her head while doing mundane things (eating, bathing). It's definitely worth a look if you'd like a quirky and warm take on the usual slice-of-life school comedy manga.

It has the same content of the anime, but reading it feels different. The story goes around a biology teacher investigating Demi-Humas through interviews with 3 Demi studens who attend the school where he works.
It takes less than an hour to read the whole volume, it's funny enough and lighthearted.
Each chapter comes with a little panel extra and at the end of the volume, moreover you can find some notes about words or places to help the reader understand better some dialogues of the story.
A good manga for young adults starting in manga and for those who want something relaxing. Kodansha did great keeping the content neat and with the references at the end.

This like so many volume ones introduces us to the main characters, the teacher whos always wanted to meet and talk to demi-humans - or, as the girls call themselves, demis - and who now finds himself a biology teacher in a school with 3 demis in the school and one - a succubus - on the teaching staff (interesting facts about succubi here - its not easy mingling with humankind....)
Its a sweet tale as we realise that although these girls are technically monsters...and Macchi the dullahan has a problem in that her head and shoulders are unconnected... they are also growing teenagers with all the emotional problems being too old for a cuddle and too young for serious relationships brings. I look forward to the next volume and will certainly get it.
Note that although parallels may be drawn with Monster Musume, there is not nearly as much sexual and adult innuendo. here.
