Without giving anything away, the ending of Year Four was anticlimactic.
Basically:
"Go away."
"Okay. We're gone."
Yes it ends with a cliffhanger. Even so, I was left with a "eh." sort of feeling. The stalemate will continue into Year Five, and if the cliffhanger is any indication, I can't really think of a way they'll be resolving this stalemate. It's kind of like they want us to keep buying issues or something, rather than concluding a great story and coming up with something new.
This is an "apples and oranges" argument, but "Irredeemable" provided a better Good Guy Gone Story, and had the sense to wrap it up, and then flip it around with "Incorruptible."
Year Four ended on a flat note for me, I am hoping for a strong conclusion to this series in year five.
After looking back over the course of four years, the $0,99 an issue is starting to lose it's value. Given that my issues are digital, even more so.
