I love the movie more then this limited series because the film version changed the story from being about Thanos, Death, his love for her and to bring balance of life and death in the universe to instead only the hunt for the stones in order to even out 50% of all life and death.

Also this series is quick to explain how and why Thanos is to possess the stones and wear the gauntlet which I think the story of it could have been told in more detail or just fleshed out more to cover the first issue. This way there is more weight to the reason for Thanos's resurrection by Death, his love for her and mission for the infinity stones. But then it may require to be longer then six issues.

The change of the gauntlet from Thanos to Nebula was awesome in how it happened BUT then for Adam Warlock to have it was too much change of hands. It would have been better for Death to claim it from Nebula to return them to their original points of origins since it was her idea to balance death and life OR for the cosmic gods in this series (Eternity, Galactus, Cronos etc.) to do the same thing. This way the point would be that the stones should not belong to anyone and to never be located again either.

I liked seeing all the characters and their classic traits in personality and most in look BUT I felt most of their super powers and abilities were thin and hardly produced to be executed with maximum potential. The art of George Perez for the first three-to-four issues was awesome! He is great with an ensemble cast and the colorists...were amazing! When Ron Lim took over for Perez, he didn't miss a beat on maintaining interest and quality to finish the series.

I didn't care for Hulk's new look and Thor w/ a beard I've known prior to the series but everyone else was spot on especially for The Human Torch to be faceless like the original android from the golden age of Marvel when it was called Atlas Comics. There is great action and drama along with manipulation and dialogue but not at every turn of the page. The landscaping and background art is so eye-catching to me!

It's definitely worth reading and to compare to the movie version too. I'm looking forward to the second and third series that continues from this one as well.

You all probably would be shocked to know that I've NEVER read this epic story until now. It was during my 'comic book collecting hiatus' period, and sometimes when you have multiple hobbies that create an expense within your budget, something has to give. I was more concerned with my deejaying & keeping up with my music collection around this time. Since I had made some connections with comic book shop owners through my community radio show, I was able to get some free stuff every now and then but mostly promotional stuff. Totally 'missed the boat' gathering this story back then. I see many comparisons & contrasts from the MCU film, but you'll find much more enjoyment reading 'The Infinity Gauntlet'!

I thought it best to re-read this collection prior to what Marvel Studios does with the final outcome of the anticipated release of The Infinity Gems movies. Although I enjoy what Marvel has done, I do not like changing the original storyline. One of my biggest peeves thus far is not having Hank Pym active in the new Marvel Universe and giving credit to Stark for the creation of Ultron. I thought at first Marvel was going to create the Kree-Skrull war but it may be too big for a cinematic series. With a few bits of straying from the original scripts, the story of the Infinity Stones is doing just fine.

I've collected comics since they were a nickel and only stopped when in 1985, The Dark Knight & The Watchmen were published. At that point I felt the industry had peaked and nothing has shown me otherwise; everything was rebooted, some of which was wise, others curious, the rest just tiresome.

In the early '90s at the beginning of the Web, I spoke with Stan Lee to bring a few in his library to life on the Web from my position at Real Networks. It seemed we were going to do a project but I couldn't stay with the company any longer however the experience was well worth it.

Starlin did a serious amount of great work, I cannot think of a project of his that fell short. About ten years ago I gave away my entire collection as I've been doing with all possessions ever since but giving away nearly 50 years of wonderful collections was the beginning, a very difficult choice. Now I'm able to easily relive many of those collections in an easy and enjoyable manner by simple having my new library available in digital form and easily accessed from my cloud. I've collected books, movies, music, etc... now all digitized in over 50 TBs for easy/immediate access anywhere/anytime.

Many argue the tactile feel of a book, the sound of vinyl or the quality of Blue ray cannot be overcome in a digital product, I simply say that ease of use for me overcomes all those barriers. I love the ability to instantly search and access my libraries without the necessity of carrying thousands of pounds of products with me. As long as I keep the highest quality when digitizing, I don't believe there is much loss in quality. I may not have the feel of a book or the pop and depth of vinyl but I do have "ease of use".

You know about this Infinity Gauntlet trade paperback because either you're a longtime Marvel comics fan or you've found out about this storyline because of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). This is part of one of the most famous Marvel sagas ever but we need to start by clarifying that the saga doesn't start with this volume. In fact, this collection does a rather poor job of explaining what has happened thus far and what is the wider context.

I recommend that you start by reading the TPB "Silver Surfer - Rebirth of Thanos" and the Epic Collection "Silver Surfer - Thanos Quest". There is another Epic Collection "Silver Surfer - The Infinity Gauntlet" but it contains mostly low relevance tie-ins which you can safely skip. What you get with the two aforementioned collections (and there is slight double dip between them but it's still worth buying the two TPBs) is the background story of how Thanos came back from the dead and is serving Mistress Death in her bid to control the population of the universe, while the Silver Surfer becomes aware of these nefarious plans and starts to fight back. Crucially, you get to see how Thanos collects the six infinity gems, defeating their owners (The Collector, The Grandmaster, The Gardener, etc.).

Then we go to this collection "Infinity Gauntlet", which collects Infinity Gauntlet 1-6. I will avoid big spoilers but the context when this collection starts is that Thanos, with the power from the infinity gauntlet, snaps his fingers and makes half of the population of the universe disappear, including several characters that we know. With absolute power, he becomes the center of attention for earth's heroes, headed by Adam Warlock and his companions, but also for several cosmic entities and even some villains like Galactus and Doctor Doom. Everyone gangs up to go against Thanos but how can you defeat someone who enjoys absolute power, even being flanked by a powerful minion like Mephisto?

I won't go into spoilers on how the story unfolds but you can be sure that it's epic, one of the most epic in the history of Marvel comics. The collection is written by Jim Starlin, a legend of the business and the author who created Thanos and essentially the Marvel cosmic universe, while George Perez and Ron Lim take care of the illustrations. I am personally a fan of Ron Lim's art and this collection contains several epic moments where his illustrations really shine.

A must read for Marvel fans. Now, be advised that even if there is closure to the story, the saga itself doesn't really end here so you will want to pick up "Infinity Gauntlet Aftermath", "Infinity War", "Infinity War Aftermath", "Infinity Crusade" and potentially also "Thor Blood and Thunder". This is because the Infinity saga is actually a trilogy, it doesn't end with the Infinity Gauntlet.
