How come? Disney OWNS Marvel, of course! :)
Featured as a wide-eyed little toddler made completely of wood in Marvel's campy Guardians of The Galaxy movies, Groot gets his very own graphic novel. And it is a BEAUTIFUL little book, too.
With a more serious-looking (cover?) illustration featuring a big and scary Groot (obviously done by a different artist) opening each chapter, the story's artwork is splashed in a dazzling color palette (especially the starry outer-space background) as well as a masterful manipulation of lighting and shadows dramatically contrasting against each other to make the images really POP.
The characters themselves are quite reminiscent of other graphic novels done by Disney artists, like the series of Red's Planet and Giant Days, especially with cartoon-like expressions on their faces that you would see on popular Disney movies.
Anyway, the story is about a very simple-minded tree creature who befriends a bad-tempered anthropomorphic raccoon (he'll SNAP that he's NOT a raccoon, of course) and they both go on great adventures to find a lost friend on the planet Earth. And the unlikely duo also encounter many colorful characters along the way like a cutthroat female space pirate, a whole bunch of wacky-looking aliens, and of course, your favorite Marvel superheroes (what??? I don't see Stan Lee himself anywhere!)
Groot himself can only communicate by announcing "I am Groot", of course. :)
