Geoff Johns is an award-winning and New York Times bestselling writer, film and television producer, showrunner, and entrepreneur known for re-imagining superheroes and other iconic mythologies, past and present. Johns is best known for his work on properties such as Green Lantern, Aquaman, The Flash, Superman, Batman, Justice Society of America, and most recently, the creator-owned hit series Geiger, currently being adapted for television at Paramount.

Since the beginning of his creative career, Johns' hallmark has been writing heroic and inclusive characters, including teenage hero Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl, inspired by his real-life late sister; the Shazam Family, which he re-imagined into a diverse modern family of today; and the first Arab-American Green Lantern, Simon Baz, as well as the explosive multi-colored Lantern mythology that defined his decade-long bestselling Green Lantern run, among many, many others.

Johns’ most recognized work in television is the critically acclaimed Stargirl series which he created and ran. Some of his film credits include Wonder Woman (executive producer), Wonder Woman 1984 (also co-writer), Aquaman (also story) and Shazam! (executive producer), based on his graphic novel with longtime collaborator and modern legendary artist Gary Frank.

In 2023, Johns co-founded Ghost Machine, the first-of-its-kind creator-owned company. This groundbreaking collective includes some of the industry’s most legendary writers and artists, disrupting the old industry model by giving ownership to its creators, and paving the way for them to retain creative control and financial participation.

Born in Detroit to a Lebanese father, Johns was honored with his own permanent section at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

Again Geoff Johns delivers an awesome story. I thought "Blackest Night" was a dark turn for the Corps. This book takes even darker turns than I would ever have imagined. Love these stories

Wow! What a ride, and I don't say that often. Black Hand is one mess up dude without his indigo ring. Jordan and Sinestro partnerships s crazy, who's helping whom. And end with a new lantern army. Can't wait to read the next book.

This followup volume to Johns epic is solid, exploring the Indigo tribe that helped spell out a good bit of their mystery. Good buildup to the first lantern story line as well. Get it for the overall buildup.

Another excellent GL volume from Geoff Johns, post-New 52 relaunch. The volume mostly plays as set up for the Rise of the Third Army and Wrath of the First Lantern story arcs, but is also notable for the titular Black Hand's return after Blackest Night. At the end of that event, the defeated William Hand was forcibly indoctrinated into the Indigo Tribe of Compassion. In this volume, Johns explores both the true nature of the "compassion corps" and the return of the Black Lantern.

This volume has two main topics. First, we learn about the Indigo Tribe! I never knew members from there are baddies who found "the light". Or at least, while wearing the ring.
Second, it focuses on Black Hand, I am new to the Green Lantern universe so I don't know much of Brightest Day or whatever wars but I never feel lost.
Reading this New 52 comic has made me like Sinestro. I always saw him as a hater/killer but it's not that at all.
Now, the guardians I wanna stomp on.
I need to get Vol 3 Pronto.

This series is amazing. I was hooked after the first volume, and this one hooks you pretty hard too. The new 52 Hal Jordan and Sinestro really become more dynamic characters. Sinestro is no longer that black and white villain you're used to he starts to enter that grey area of villain/hero. And Hal Jordan is just badass in this. The new 52 is really made for the fans and these comics are really geared for an adult audience more so than previous Green Lantern comics.

The story-line was compelling and the character development is intriguing. I am in love with this space theme (as I am new to this setting). The plot was easy to understand and the art style was great. I highly recommend this purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars An unmissable comic.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 28, 2015
I am new to Green Lanterns comics. I have always been interested In Green lantern. This is my 3rd Green Lantern graphic novel, I bought volume 1 new 52and I enjoyed it, and I thought it was good, but volume 2 is fantastic. There is lots of action, there is great chemistry between Hal and Sinestro. The guardians are about to unleash their "third army", and destroy all the lantern corps (including the green lantern corps). There is always a sence of suspence whilst reading this, I was interested from the beginning. This is my favourite new 52 comic so far, and I have bought Justice League and Batman new 52s as well, thats how highly I rate it.

The History (with a capital H) unfolds before our eyes in this amazing saga that reveals the past of the Indigo Tribe while building the exciting future of Hal Jordan's evolution into a Black Lantern. So many concepts, so many ideas, so carefully crafted a story. Excellent art. Great storytelling. Surgically-tuned dialogue.
I can't ask for anything better.
