Very sweet and wholesome story

Very sweet and wholesome story
After having this manga on my dresser for WEEKS, I have FINALLY picked it up and read the first volume!I checked it out from my library and just have been super behind on reading in general this month, but this manga made me thankful I took the chance in switching something up with my reading! It is a very sweet and wholesome story! I can't say I would have caught myself saying so about a SPIDER, but here we are!I really liked Nagi and thought she was very relatable. I didn't expect there to be a little bit of a sad backstory and definitely can say it pulled at my heart strings. I think it made Nagi's friendship with Asa all the more compelling.Asa was a fun spider-like creature! He is SO cute when he "expresses" his love for Nagi's cooking! And speaking of, this manga made me super hungry! I liked how the mangaka is basically giving you a recipe but through a story. It made it easy to follow, but also still enjoyable to read during the story if that makes sense. Very creative!I'm definitely looking forward to continuing to read this series! I love the friendship aspect and smiled so much! Totally recommend!

When I picked this up I didn’t really know what to expect but this is the perfect balance of a cute slice of life story about a girl and her pet and, completely eerie. The manga never lets you get too comfortable by always revealing something unsettling at just the right time. Can’t wait to read the next volume.

This series is absolutely adorable! With the neat setting of an optimistic recovering post-apocalyptic Japan, our heroine befriends a strange creature and precedes to solve all her problems with food. Cute and informative to the point of being able to refer to it as a recipe book, I'd even recommend this to arachniphobes.

I hate insects, but this manga is so charming! It also has detailed recipes of the delicious homemade food that appears in it, so that’s a plus too. What a cute idea, I love cozy post apocalyptic manga, it feels hopeful somehow :)

Okay i had to buy this just to see what in the 9 hells it was. A little girl and a giant spider doing things together.....that's such a good hook it's insane.

And overall it delivers on what it promises. The art is detailed and cute, the dialouge is natural and fun, and while he dont get much characterization for Nagi or the Spider (Asa) what we do get is nice. It's nothing ground breaking, not really a MUST HAVE RIGHT NOW, but it's good. It's kind of peacefull and calm like how Flying Witch or Girl From The Other Side are

One odd thing though is...the cooking. For some reason 20 pages of this manga are dedicated to actual cooking, step by step process on how to make some dishes. It's fine but....well i'm here for a "giant spider & me" not "cooking with Nagi and Asa" . I dont really mind i just found it odd

Also i like that it knows it's spider facts, even if it chooses to ignore them for simplicity.

So yeah it's a good pick up that ends on a cliff hanger. Cant wait to see more

Book came in good condition (felt worth noting as so many things bought from amazon are often bad quality) - and the contents of it were so great! An adorable manga with yummy recipes and pretty artwork in it.

Beautiful illustrations. I'm glad I decided to give this manga a try because I have no regrets. It exceeded my expectations. If you love relaxing cute stories about food, especially involving cute spiders, this manga is for you. The cooking drawn on each page is based on real recipes that you can actually make. I can't wait to try them out!

For me this was a failure. We're seeing a lot of manga in Japan these days about friendships between people and bizarre animals and semi-people. This was a trend perhaps set off by the story about the guy who becomes the caretaker of a bunch of half-women half-animal women (title forgotten), This entry into that field misses the boat because it does not have the one element that made that manga compelling: in that story the women are as physically bizarre as the names of their species indicate, and yet the guy gets along with them OK.

In this story, by contrast, the spider is not very spider-like, and in fact has been made just way too cute. Once the bizarreness element has been removed in this way, there is nothing to hold one's interest, at least in this first volume, except the events of the story, which mainly consists of the girl cooking tasty meals.

I love the girl, but the spider's kind of a bore.

(PS: The use of the "they" pronoun for people and creatures that the speaker/writer either knows the sex of or should be able to reasonably guess—spiders are generally female in fiction—is maddening, and I think is a harbinger of another round of radical nonsense that will be coming down on us soon re gender in general.)

I got this because a friend of mine recommended it to me and I'm really glad i got it.
The spider is so cute! Never thought there would be a spider that i like. Over all the first volume was a good start and gave us a good look on the protagonist, a little girl that lives alone in a post-apocalypthic world and meets a strange little creature that turns out to be a spider that is really hungry. So Nagi decides to cook for the little big spider and a wonderful friednship begins.
It's really interesting and also a really calm read. Enjoyed it a lot.
