The boys are back with competition. Problem is that the head of the competition is a good engineer, but not a ghost expert. Only time you will see Peck agree with Venkman.

I've been enjoying this series since the beginning. I read the 2 TMNT crossovers first and enjoyed them enough to check out the main book. On to volume 5!

Great Ghostbusters comic. It stars the characters from the movies and has stuff from the 80s cartoon show hidden in the background.
Get the other volumes in the series first.

I feel like it's risky to make comics about beloved characters, because if you get the personalities wrong it will upset the fan-base. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect when I started reading Ghostbusters: Who You Gonna Call? I grew up watching Ghostbusters over and over again; I just love the characters so much.

Luckily the author did a good job of really capturing their personalities in these new adventures. Egon Spengler was his brainy self, intelligent to the point of social awkwardness. Peter Venkman was probably the highlight, as he was in the movies; his sarcastic wit was just what was needed to lighten up the story-line. Let's not forget about their lovable secretary; one of my favorite parts was when Janine's date shows up to take her to the opera and the guys give them both a hard time. I was really surprised to see Janosz included as well, with some allusions to the events in Ghostbusters II.

Even if you haven't read issues #1-12 (like me), you won't be lost. There were a few parts where I was slightly confused, but things became more or less clear by the end. Of course I would like to go back and read them now, because I enjoyed the story line. And if you're wondering, yes I read the dialogue in their voices in my head. It was impossible not to.

I was a little unsure about the illustrations at the beginning, because the people are drawn almost like caricatures. Cartoonish and exaggerated I guess would be a good description. It really grew on me after a while, and the supernatural aspects were absolutely stunning and beautiful.

With the new Ghostbusters movie being released and all of the skepticism that went along with that, I like that we can still go on adventures with the original cast as well. Ghostbusters comics are not a new concept, and I haven't really read any of the others, but I can tell you that this particular series lived up to my expectations.

Awesome read, i like how it went more into Janoz Poha's life after the GB 2 movie and how things are going for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant volume from the Burnham/Schoening/Jones/Delgado team!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 4, 2013
Everything that was great about the previous volumes continues here! If you have arrived here having read volumes one, two and three you know what a treat GHostbusters fans are in for. If you haven't read the earlier volumes you will need to start there as this is an ongoing series and while each volume has plenty of stand alone stories and moments there are also elements that seem to be building towards a BIG event in a future issue. Compared to previous volumes the background 80's and GB references seemed less frequent or at least far more subtle (as I couldn't see many this time) in this volume however the links to other aspects of the franchise are still there. The game gets even more of a grounding in the GB world with the "Rookie" from the game getting a moment to shine. I also liked how GB2 is increasingly referenced and used. I think most GB fans who read this know GB2 was fun and part of the world but not as sharp as the first however GB2 is still well loved so I am glad to see it not being ignored. However, it seems off that the people they choose to write the foreword for each volume are glowing about GB, the Burnham/Schoening/Jones/Delgado team but always seem to have a dig at GB2. No additional mini story at the back this time but you do still get some more of Peck's "files", covers art, pop culture GB art (Taxi Drver this time) and a superb script to drafts to final colours comparison. Cool!

NOTE: After checking around a few websites it's clear that this IDW series consider the two films and recent computer game as canon and the cartoon versions as a separate world. So they will be referencing the cartoons and maybe borrowing ideas and characters from those other versions but fully integrating them all probably isn't all that likely or even possible. Still I do hope the other Extreme GB team members get a moment as Kylie has been used in this IDW version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Buy For Ghostbusters Fans

If you are a fan of the original film series then you should definitely check out this series.

This series carries on the story of the Ghostbusters following the first two movies. Elements from the video game released in 2009 (I think) are also referenced and shown in some volumes, for example, the rookie has a franchise in Chicago.

The story arcs are so well written that you will feel like you are watching one of the movies, the writers simply 'get' the characters.

Artwork is fantastic and the ghosts designs are unique and original.

I love the IDW Ghostbusters series. Been a GB fan since I first saw the film as a kid back in '85 and you can tell that the writers are fans as well. The characterisation is great, the art is nice and the long running story is pretty damn cool.

although it gets my lowest rating from the Ghostbusters series so far that is only because I am confused to where they will take the series when it changes over to 'The All new Ghostbusters'
