Awful title aside, this was a thrilling first volume (of 4 in this new print). This is also my first Rick Remender book who I've heard a lot about. I'm glad I started here - the story is real pulpy with a ton of really creative and crazy ideas while still maintaining enough heart and intelligence to make it a really great read. I'm pumped for the next volumes!

This series is chock-ful of weird, sad ideas which gel into a tragic and hilarious whole. B-movie insanity with an unlimited budget? Sign me up.

Fear Agent : Final Edition Vol. 1 is the first omnibus of the Image comics series created by author Rick Remender (Deadly Class), Tony Moore (co-creator of The Walking Dead) and Jerome Opeña.

It includes the first two story arcs : Reignition part 1 to 4, and My War part 1 to 6, before leaving us on a nice twist and cliffhanger

Heath Huston is an alien exterminator, the last of the legendary fear agents team. He left Earth after having lost his family to alien invasion. Always drunk, constantly narrating the story through his thoughts, with nothing to lose, he delivers a good dose of raging dark humor characteristic of Remender’s works.

The first issues give a feeling of going the way of diverse unconnected adventures but, quickly, the characters enter a race to save earth from total annihilation by parasitic infestation. However, an unfortunate sabotage gets in the way of their self attributed mission.

This book is strongly remindful of the sci-fi pulp stories of old. It has everything : strange planets, wacky aliens, Dalek-like killer robots, improbable tech gizmos, time travel shenanigans...

Tony Moore’s designs and art are fantastic, and his use of panel layout in action sequences add to the franticnesss of it all. The backgrounds are detailed, and the colorist is at the top of his art. The lettering adequately helps differentiating the dialogue from each alien race.

The book is, in great part, fast paced, fun, non stop action. Highly recommended.

As a bonus, the omnibus offers clean covert art for each issue, and sketchbook in the backpages.

Fantastic book with great art work! I absolutely love this series.

Very upsetting that the seller packed it with the corner bent out, leaving a giant crease on it.

Amazon Kunde
1.0 out of 5 stars Terribly uninspired
Reviewed in Germany on April 23, 2021
Bought this because I liked the preview of the first pages on Amazon. But these are the best pages of the book by far. After that the art gets boring and the story... I'm not sure how to even describe it. Let's say it's an uninspired scetch for a remake of Flash Gordon with a Wolverine-like protagonist that someone gave up upon after half on hour. Not a single idea, simply nothing in sight to even understand why this book was made. One of the most boring and foreseeable things I've ever read.
