Elephantmen 2261 Season One #2 (of 5): The Death of Shorty (comiXology Originals) Kindle & comiXology

3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 3 ratings

Shorty IS dead, but was he murdered? Dillon, a droid in Scherezade's service seems to think so. For most Elephantmen, extermination was a way of life, now Hip Flask and Farrell hear the story of Shorty's struggle to overcome the fears that had kept him awake at night.

Elephantmen are human/animal hybrids designed to fight a war. But the war is over, and now they live among us. Debuting nearly 15 years and 80 issues ago from Image Comics, Elephantmen returns here with a new jumping on point. This all-new story is a whodunnit that draws our heroes, Hip Flask and Jack Farrell, into the curious death of an Elephantman known to his friends as "Shorty".

This is the second issue of the Death if Shorty! I can’t wait to read the third one to continue the story.

While I still loved the artwork, it is truly incredible. This whole issue was almost all about rats. It was really just kind of gross, and they were drawn really nasty looking too.

The real problem I had was that the point being made could have been made in a few pages instead of nearly the whole issue.

And though the title of this one was Dillion, we really didn't get enough about him. Maybe I'm supposed to be completely in the dark about him, but it's kind of annoying since he was the subtitle of the issue.

Cliffhanger ending, but that's normal for comic issues, so no points off for that.

Going to read the next issue to see if I'm happier with the revelations and story progression.
