At first it look like this volume was going to take a horror route. A young woman in Barcelona is stalked by a shadowy, Jack the Ripper like stranger and we hear about reports of missing women. Enter our characters now in the Catalan capital. Our heroine Fourmille is now possessed by the soul of a cat. Yes, she sometime displays some feline antics.
As with all entries in the series, we don't only see alternate versions of cities, but also alternate versions of famous people. Here its Salvador Dali, who is the master of a famous house in Barcelona instead of an artist. And he's the antagonist in this story. You see, he has a collection of real live fairies that has been stolen. He'll stop at nothing to get it back. But plot twists go by to suggest that Dali may be behind that collection of fairies in glass orbs...
Not sure why I found this volume to be slightly inferior to the last two volumes. Maybe it was because this didn't have the fun in-jokes of volume 3. Or the plot twists that made volume 2 such a delight. Still its worth your time. And seeing Dali as a bad guy is itself worth the price.
