The secret to understanding and enjoying this trilogy is to bear in mind that the whole story is a middle. Yes, the story itself has a beginning, middle and end but the story itself is a middle. The beggining is lost in the biblical past. The end is somewhere in the unknowable future. This is the middle. If you enjoyed Lucifer, Constantine and similar reimagined takes on biblical type stories then you'll enjoy this.
