Cryptozoic Man Vol. 1: Decapitation Strike Kindle & comiXology
Collects Cryptozoic Man #1-4!
From the minds of Bryan Johnson and Walter Flanagan, stars of AMC's hit television show, Comic Book Men! Shortly after Alan Ostman's daughter goes missing on a family camping trip, he finds himself living life on the fringes. After a particularly rough night, an industrialist interested in Alan's research focusing on the "alternative sciences" bails him out of jail and offers Alan a job. Think your boss is bad? At least they're (probably) not a leather pig-mask wearing, inter-dimensional miscreant bent on having a race of malignant beasts exterminate the world's best known cryptids and destroy the entire universe in the process. Does humanity have a shot? A mythical society of Gray aliens didn't create Cryptozoic Man for nothing!

First thing, I love the Comic Book Men Show 💯. When I was able to find the comics on Amazon to where I could read on kindle unlimited I was very excited. Now, I really enjoyed the writing style. There was so much violence and a fun great story too. Most definitely a crazy book to read.

A good read! I really enjoy anytime Johnson graces us with his writing talents and Flanagans art is beautiful! I particularly enjoyed the half skinned pig who's nipples were being suckled by tiny naked men. But seriously, an original, well written, and amazingly drawn story!

Honestly all four stars are for the fantastic art work. The story, on the other hand wasn't for me. I was wondering as I went on this journey if I was supposed to be high to understand it. I wasn't and didn't.

The reviews of this comic are obviously misguided. This comic book was so deeply entertaining and meaningful to me as a fan of the Podcast "Tell 'em Steve Dave". The storyline is actually really great if you have ever listened to the Tell 'em Steve Dave overkill episodes. There is an overkill episode where they talk to this dude who is obsessed with this portal that takes you to like a different, monster world. So I think a lot of this comic is based off of what that dude was saying about these portals.
I think that fans of comic book men were disappointed by this comic because it was a deeper reflection of the Bryan Johnson and Walt Flanagan that TESD fans are familiar with, rather than the Bry and Walt they see on TV. They could have made this comic a lot more conventionally likable, but I think that the writers went out of their way to make sure their true fans would have a piece of art to enjoy and love forever.

Comic started off good and the comic art was original. However, plot was too simplistic and ending was lacked. Overall, a decent comic with done good things.

I got this because I'm a huge Tell 'Em Steve-Dave fan. They mentioned this book on the show a few times but never got into too much detail. I can see why.
This book is barely readable. It's just an incoherent mess. There's no real plot. It doesn't work as a horror story and it doesn't work as a mindbender. The artwork is alright, but nothing impressive. I like the beginning and ending pencil work better than the bulk of the book.
If you're gonna read this, I recommend doing so under the influence of mind-altering drugs (which is pretty much the point, right?)

Great product, a wonderfully horrifying story, terrible shipping. The only, and I mean ONLY complaint I have with this collection is the fact that it's spine came bumped and broken. The story itself is delightfully macabre and nuanced with a new slew of creatures missing from modern comic culture. The story itself is delightful aside from it's dark surroundings. Worth the read.
