Classics Illustrated: Joint European Series

The Joint European Series (JES) of Classics Illustrated was the term coined
to represent those titles and issues printed across Europe -- which included versions in German, Swedish and Dutch. Sixty-seven different titles were published in these languages that were never originally published in English. In the 1980s -- long after CI were no longer commercially published -- a devotee of the series translated the JES titles and painstakingly adapted the artwork so that these could be appreciated in English for the first time.
