This was lovely. The illustrations were beautiful, the story felt alive and the resulting graphic novel was delightful. I had zero expectations and didn't even have an idea of what this was about. I was pleasantly surprised.

This story was a bit confusing. The author tries to introduce us to all of the characters involved plus develop a story in only 3 chapters and it didn't fully work in this case. Since it was so short everything felt rushed and I never felt like I got a good feel for any of the characters. This was an interesting premise and I would have love to see what direction this could've gone if the author decided to expanded it just a little more. Despite that, I'm looking forward to checking out more of his work.

Sapphic paranormal romance? I’m in. Oh and did I mentioned coffee? Ghost lovers and coffee lover alike will enjoy this read.

The art is STUNNING and there's a lot of effort that went into the book that shows! Lots of research into coffee farms and we'll rounded representation. Unfortunately the plot feels rushed and the ending is anticlimactic. Would be a great starter book into sapphic comics

Ok Halmark or lifetime could y’all work the author to do a spooky season romcom adaptation of this movie?! It has everything for a spooky season romcom, think about it you got coffee for the basic pumpkin spice girls and then you go ghost for the basic spooky girls. IT IS A FALL ROMCOM MIRACLE everyone is happy.
Again adorable story line!

A queer romance revolving around coffee and ghosts. When Esme is fully caffeinated she can commune with ghosts. It’s partly a love story with a weird subplot of a hungry ghost.

This book was so good that I had to order the physical. Yara amd Esme are so cute together. I do hope moving forward, Esme gets help so she can sleep and lay off the coffee. I love how they ended up in Brazil with a new coffee shop despite a ghost burning the other one down so he could be requited with his long lost love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasma, fazenda de café encatadas e amor
Reviewed in Brazil on September 22, 2020

The artwork in this is STUNNING - I will be looking for other works by the artists.

The story is really unique and well paced, I love the idea that drinking coffee can make our MC Esme see ghosts and that she befriends them. Esme and Yara have great chemistry, they’re relationship is really sweet.

5.0 out of 5 stars It isn't a hot novel, just wholesome vibes all way long.

I really like that most of the novel is set in Brazil, It was good to feel the nostalgia of eating pão de queijo with café...

3.0 out of 5 stars A magical realist brew
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 14, 2023
A warm hearted tale, maybe it could have done with a little more bitterness to temper the sweetness. A problem at the heart of a lot of magic realism (which this is) is a tendency for the whimsical to get the upper hand and soften the realism. Clearly that's what drew Christmas to this form of storytelling.

If you're not up for coincidences in fiction, you might struggle with this. There's a lot packed into the story, and concidence is reasonably used as a way to move things along. Its better than out-of-character decisions, like the one that Esme makes in the latter part of the story. A decision she clearly wouldn't have made based on what we've seen up to that point. A rare misstep, but for me a big one.

A lot of care has gone into the look of Crema. The art and use of colour are lovely. Characters are drawn diversely, helping the emotional pull of the book. Dante Luiz has done a stunning job, and the notes and references are great to have too.
