About the Author

While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).

In 1990, the first volume
Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of
Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV.

The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (
Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.

Got this in memory of one of the greatest mangaka that has ever existed: Kentaro Miura. This manga arrived in the best condition and arrived early as well! I definitely recommend the manga and this seller as well!

This is the 22nd volume in the Berserk series. In this volume Griffith returns as the Hawk of Light. He has Zodd the Immortal at his side and, while Guts is not quite a match for Zodd, he makes a good showing of it and Griffith leaves. Ends up Griffith has his eye on another kingdom that he is determined to make his own. This part of the story introduces a whole new cast of characters; all of them are very interesting.

After the initial encounter with Griffith, Guts and Casca start on a long journey to Puck’s homeland in an effort to seek refuge from the demons that haunt them.

We also get to see some of Lady Farnese’s back story and find out how Serpico came to serve her.

Overall I really enjoyed this volume and enjoy where the story is going. I love some of the new characters we meet here and am eager to see where things go in the next volume. I would recommend to mature readers who enjoy fantasy horror manga.

This story certainly throws the Berserk story MUCH further. Instead of constant battle, there is a sudden confrontation. Guts and Griffith! They stand and meet face to face, and speak words with each other right in front of the now noticeably several-years aged Rickert (who still has no idea what happened during the Eclipse). Then...the second battle between Guts and Nosferatu Zodd happens! Guts vs. Zodd! Finally! Once again, we see how they clash in their built strength, and Guts is much stronger this time around.

After this, we get to see how Lady Farnese and her faithful companion Serpico are doing out in the snowy cold. Turns out: we get to see an entire flashback to how they met in the first place. Serpico was a poor boy, turns out the son of her neglectful and wealthy father, and by chance circumstance made him her page (taking all her abuse over the years without giving her the information that he is actually her half-brother), and spends the years dealing with her obnoxious, spoiled tyranny and pyromaniacal habits.

Seriously furthers the story on. A "Must Read" for all Berserk fans, like myself.

Plus...we get to treasure the introductions to Griffith's new entrants to his newly resurrected BAND OF THE HAWK. And...oh, how freaking perfect they are. Zodd is the only demon of the group, the other three are human (I'd assume) but are so advanced in their skill it's just foreboding that Guts will have quite a struggle in having to deal with these unstoppable fighters. (If you've ever seen "Spirited Away": Well, one of them is much like the weird character No Face, just to give you a clue. HOW...FREAKING...AWESOME!)

After so long it feels great to see Griffith & Guts in the story together again. Due to this I am looking forward to the the rest of the Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc. The art was solid throughout. I even enjoyed the little backstory of the holy Iron Chain Knights towards the end of this volume. All and all a solid read.

Amazing part of the story. Griff Savage. Can't wait for the next volume! This supposed to be the best arc of the story.

This novel has some of the best art of the entire series, in my opinion. Probably the best fight as well. Guts vs Zodd round 2 is one of the most heart-pounding battle scene I have ever seen. Gut's introspection trends continue giving the reader further insights into the parallels and anti-parallels between our antagonist and protagonist. This novel also marks a shift in the tone of the series from a dark misanthropic fantasy to high fantasy.
