Batwoman (2017-) Vol. 1: The Many Arms of Death (Batwoman (2017-2018)) Kindle & comiXology

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 230 ratings

Fresh from her adventures in DETECTIVE COMICS, Katherine Kane returns with her own DC Rebirth title—and an intriguing new mystery to solve—in BATWOMAN VOL. 1: THE MANY ARMS OF DEATH.

Someone is selling cutting-edge weaponry on the black market, and their aim is to kill as many people—from as many nations—as possible. With help from her intrepid assistant, Julia Pennyworth, and their high-tech mobile command center, the yacht Sequoia, Batwoman quickly tracks the weapons to their source: a small, lawless island known as Coryana, home to pirates, outlaws…and a year of Batwoman’s life.

Back before she joined the Bat-Family, Kate Kane spent some time with Coryana’s unofficial matriarch—and nearly lost herself in the process. Now her past is quickly catching up to her, and if Batwoman can’t figure out who to trust, the next thing she loses will be her life!

Acclaimed writers Marguerite Bennett and James Tynion IV and artists Steve Epting (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Stephanie Hans and Renato Arlem launch Batwoman into an explosive new era in BATWOMAN VOL. 1: THE MANY ARMS OF DEATH, collecting the BATWOMAN: REBIRTH one-shot special and issues #1-6.

Kate Kane is one of my favorite characters in comics, so its about time I owned this volume.

Unrelated to the contents of the comics but the seller of this comic packed it EXTREMELY well with double bubble packaging wrapped with pieces of cardboard on each side to prevent the volume from being bent. Extremely satisfied with the quality of the item.

I read "The Many Arms of Death" to prepare me for the upcoming CW "Batwoman" television series. The comiXology and Kindle software make the volume easy to read on a laptop or a tablet. I enjoyed the background information. I also liked the writing and the first artwork in the series. I highly recommend Vol. 1 to DC fans and anyone else interested in Batwoman.

This was a good read. It's an interesting read. It starts following the events of Batman Detective Comics Rebirth vol 1. It ties in her past and background story to current events really well. The story is entertaining. The last issue in the volume was awesome, I would read an entire story of that. It has to do with the future and brother eye. I'm not sure if it's tying in to like futures end or batman beyond or if it's just a random one shot they through in but it's enjoyable.

I know nothing about this version of Batwoman. I picked up this trade primarily for Steve Epting's art, which is absolutely spectacular. The story by Marguerite Bennett and James Tynion IV is quite good with a bit of a 007 vibe. A good story I really enjoyed. Recommended reading from DC Comics

This volume is pretty much the definition of average. Epting shines on his issues but the book never really feels like it's trying to make you even like Kate.

It all started with DC Bombshells and then I started loving Miss Marguerite works, then I found out about Batwoman got curious and started buying the chapter each month, then the physical volumes and then whatever I could find Batwoman related.

I adore Batwoman, and have followed her in her Kate Kane incarnation from the beginning. It is good to see her in the Rebirth DC. This arc is a good story, introduces some more background for Batwoman and moves her character development along. Not a timeless classic (like her very first solo arc from Detective comics pre new 52), but solid nonetheless.

A rocky start that ends on a high note, with an all time favourite heavily self-contained issue thrown in the mix. I'd highly recommend it for the 5th issue alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantique
Reviewed in France on September 20, 2019

4.0 out of 5 stars falta guión
Reviewed in Spain on June 7, 2018
