4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 76 ratings

Batman: New Gotham Vol. 2 brings you the exciting follow-up to No Man’s Land!

Sasha Bordeaux was hired by the board of Wayne Enterprises as the personal bodyguard to the company’s owner, millionaire Bruce Wayne. She’s supposed to be offering him round-the-clock protection, but night after night, her infuriating charge gives her the slip. He clearly wants to keep his activities private, but what does a superficial playboy have to hide?

As Sasha gets closer to discovering Bruce Wayne’s double life, she and Batman begin a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. If the bodyguard learns the Dark Knight’s identity, can she be trusted to protect it? Or will the whole world learn the truth?

Featuring the Mad Hatter, Superman, Two-Face and more, Batman: New Gotham Vol. 2 collects Detective Comics #755-765 and Superman #168, from beloved writer Greg Rucka (Wonder Woman, Batwoman) and artists Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves), Rick Burchett (Batman Adventures) and more.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Praise for GOTHAM CENTRAL:

"Compelling drama...a great example of the literary and artistic maturity of the graphic novel format." --
School Library Journal

"Outstanding...a deft mash-up of the super-hero saga and police procedural." -
-Booklist

"This Greg Rucka/Ed Brubaker/Michael Lark monthly comic was short-lived but absolutely fantastic. Essentially Homicide: Life on the Street where the criminals are all costumed lunatics, GOTHAM CENTRAL focused on the nitty-gritty police work performed by its gigantic cast of detectives." --
Entertainment Weekly

"Critically acclaimed, if never a smash hit, GOTHAM CENTRAL was a distinctly grounded take on the Batman mythology filled with an ensemble cast who were particularly unlikely to show up in that month's issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE or SUPERMAN--imagine Hill Street Blues, but with the Joker showing up to cause mass terror every now and again. With minimal appearances from Batman throughout the run, GOTHAM CENTRAL demonstrated how well a police procedural could work in a world of super-villains and larger-than-life threats, given the appropriate treatment." --
Hollywood Reporter

From the ashes of no man’s land Gotham rises again. Part two of the tale of Gotham City’s first year post No Man’s Land
Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2018
I've fallen in love with the New Gotham storyline, as well as the distinctive art. Sasha Bordeaux is an interesting and compelling character, and the post-No Man's Land timeline is engaging and fun. If you enjoyed that story arc, along with Bruce Wayne: Murderer?, you might really enjoy this story.

Volume two is good reading. Bruce Wayne's bodyguard, Sasha Bordeaux, finds out about his Batman identity and ends up becoming a practical sidekick.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does not include Officer Down story

I really enjoyed the No Man's Land Saga and this follow up to that event does a nice job showing how Gotham got back on it's feet. The art isn't for everyone but I didn't mind. The big hit to the rating though is the story about Gordon getting shot is not included in this nor the other New Gotham trade. It's referenced but never seen and the Officer Down trade has since gone out of print.
