He is known for creating the superhero Booster Gold, and for his lengthy runs on the Superman titles The Adventures of Superman and Superman (vol. 2), particularly during "The Death of Superman" storyline.

IGN claimed "This series admirably captures the tone of the beloved animated series and seems poised to potentially take things to a much darker place than it's predecessor ever could," and I couldn't agree more!! As a kid who grew up watching the show, and reading this for the first time as an adult, I can deeply enjoy and appreciate both ever more. The rebirth series starts with the return of the Joker (sounds familiar right?...) But in all seriousness, this recycled idea is dark, exciting and always welcomed in the Batman Beyond universe. The series and movie had it's dark, mature moments, especially for a supposed kids show, but the comics seem to intensify those themes. As the fans mature, so should the series, and this is a perfect example how to do it. I loved this first volume, and I look forward to reading and reviewing the rest of this series, and beyond...

I was a big fan of the animated series growing up and this does a great job of capturing that spirit. This is a really solid story as well, having to do with the Jokerz and the return of Terry. There are quite a few twists and turns throughout that keep you engaged. Overall a hidden gem of the Rebirth titles and one that fans of the animated show will especially enjoy.

I liked the artwork and the story. The problem is that sometimes I don't "feel" that Terry is Batman. I'm looking for more depth to Terry. More dimensions to his personality. His character development is somewhat lacking I feel.

I could be wrong, but Terry has lost a lot. Those losses affect him. He shouldn't be somewhat untouched by them. I don't like the fact that Max and his brother know he's Batman. Now his girlfriend knows as well.

I want more stoicism from him, and secrecy. He isn't Bruce. I get that. However, the very nature of his work makes a person more stoic and cynical. How do those two things manifest in Terry?

I'll keep getting the comic itself to see how Terry gets developed because I do enjoy it.

I really like what the author did with the origin story and the use of supporting characters in this novel. You get to see a lot more involvement from some other characters that help develop this story and support Terry in his journey as the Batman in an even better way than they did in the animated series which for me, made this reboot even better.

Je reconnais d'avance que l'univers de Batman Beyond ne m'a jamais vraiment passionné, autant je reconnais que le background d'évolution des personnages classiques est plutôt bon, autant j'ai du mal à m'y attacher.

Mon point de référence avec cet univers est Future's end, superbe série qui mettait en scène la fin du monde avec l'oeil et un McGinnis qui était obligé de se téléporter dans le passé (du new 52 donc) pour empêcher la suite.
Là on est sur un McGinnis qui reprend son costume de Batman, il a à faire avec le groupe des Jokerz, qui supposément aurait de quoi faire revenir le vrai Joker, de fil en aiguille, le scénario arrive à nous surprendre et à multiplier les rebondissements. rien de révolutionnaire dans l'histoire, peu de personnages développés même si j'ai apprécié la relation Terry/Dana qui sera probablement un point fort pour la suite. les dessins sont bons donc en soit je pourrais mettre un 5 étoiles à ce comics, j'admets totalement que c'est mon manque d'affinités avec l'univers et un intrigue un peu en ligne droite qui m'empêche de mettre plus .

Absolutely love this! So much better then Tom King's Batman run in my opinion. This follows Terry Mguinnis (think I spelled that right) as a future batman who is mentored by a much older and battle harderned Bruce Wayne. Dan Jurgens has done a terrific job with lots of twist and turns and of course action. It is also very interesting to see what has happened to other characters in the batman universe and where they have ended up. This is up there with Green Lantern as my favourites in the rebirth line.
